Hi all. Just wondering what fun and exciting things any of you were doing this weekend. I spent time yesterday visiting my mom in the nursing home. Always so painful for me. They tell me this woman is my mom, but she doesn't even resemble her. The day ended wonderfully though. I cooked dinner for 9 guests. Had a great time entertaining as always. Such is life....dealing with good and bad. Hope all of you had a great weekend.

Wow Rita. It takes already existing character and a special person to look at, deal with, and continually build character in the face of a difficult situation

Thanks SoMagnetic. Life throws us curves sometimes. We need to acknowledge them, accept them, react to them, but we can't be consumed by them. I try to live this way. I certainly have my difficult moments like everyone else.

I live near a senior adult community where my mother lives. Also, the church I attend is full of senior adult. There is always someone dying; getting sick, and or having to move into assisted living that I know. Also, my mother-in-law died from Alzheimer complications. I have been in your situation and I have learned a lot. In addition, I have seen the horrors of war, which has taught me a lot about life. First, humility, gratitude, forgiveness, and benevolence are necessary characteristics to have, because this life is not guaranteed to anyone. Second, material things, titles, and accolades mean nothing, when the end is near. Wonderful relationships, unconditional love, and contributing to the welfare others will have much more meaning in the end. Third, remove all pride, ego, and selfish behavior. Me and no one else deserves happiness or anything in this life. We earn and share happiness and joy. In addition, no one is immune from tragedy. Always, think "Why not me?", instead of "Why me?". Fourth, HAVE FUN WITH YOURSELF AND A LOT OF PEOPLE! Fifth, do not take this life so seriously, because those who have dementia, Alzheimer, and memory loss are doing much better than rest of us, because cannot recall the terrible heartbreaks and tragedies that have happened in their lives!!!!

I worked out. Shared Shabbat (Sabbath) with family. I walked for a long time at night. I enjoyed my wife's anatomy and physiology. I prepared for the work week.

Had a lunch date yesterday that somehow morphed into spending the afternoon together. Good food, good drinks, a terrible LSU game, all with ridiculously good conversation and company :smt060 When he was getting ready to leave he put his hands on my face, gave me a kiss and asked if I'd be his girlfriend. How cute is that?! I think it's a little early still to get all committed, but I thought it was crazy sweet that he asked. :smt054

Today was all football and kids...Sunday usual!

Lol, I vent on an impromptu coffee date with something I met on the plane back from Chicago the other week. That's a first for me. It went very well. Think I'll see him again.

I tend to shy away from commitment so I don't really think it's serious yet lol. He's very thoughtful and attentive, and I'm enjoying my time with him. Not ready to label what we have as anything serious though :) We definitely enjoy each other...that's good enough for me :smt023
