Is this offensive?

Ironically, the rebel flag and its associated symbolism of the south rising again, is still not as historically disparaging as the term WE are have now coddled and legitimized.......

I'm a bit on the fence on that one actually, let alone the entire thread. There is a grain of truth that context is what determines the offense, at least from the standpoint of how tolerant we are when exercising our right to free speech in any given time. But on the flip side, there is still a historical element that is ingrained in our psyche and it slowly diminishes with each passing generation.

The shirt is pretty much offensive on a grounded standpoint, but overall, it really depends on the individuals and how they perceive it. The older generations, who actually experienced such hardships, the word (nigger/nigga), regardless of variant, is still highly derogatory and it's damning that people are too quick to glorify words that demean others.

Yet, with each new generation, such words grow less offensive and actions are more trusted than words.

No but my overall point is I doubt she would that. The pic isn't a family dinner just looks like friends camping. If someone did that at my place of work then the intentions would obviously be different.

No its no different than when kids including myself use to play with the General Lee because of Dukes of Hazard.
To be fair people who sport the Confederate flag in this day in age usually are xenophobic racists. Most young people using "nigga" especially an obvious black friend usually aren't. So yes context still matters.

Tell you right now if my daughters ever brought home a boy wearing a swastika on a shirt, he'd be thrown out of my home IMMEDIATELY. What teenager doesn't know that terms like nigga or nigger or symbols such as Confederate flags or swastikas aren't signs of prejudice and hatred towards a group of people? I met a black man recently who actually WANTED me to call him Nigga. He said it turned him on. I refused to. Certain things are just WRONG.

Of course she didn't wear it around his family, since someone has already put in the work to show that this pic is probably photoshoped. Nevermind the fact that if she really was trying to be rebellious as you are trying to paint this as, any white teenage girl ignorant enough to wear a shirt like that wouldn't be dating a clean cut & safe looking black dude like the one in that picture.

And riddle me this? I live in a state where interracial dating among teens is a common thing, so if this is rebellious youth culture that sprang up from the media culture they have grown up with why is it I have yet to see this kind of ignorance taking place in my own back yard? Not even among the obvious hoodrat/wigger type couplings where you would expect that kind of ignorant crap if it were going on........

Because you're not a teen you don't hang out where they do. No one is saying they are the fuck the police type just the type of kids who would buy some dumb shit from Spencers as a goof around their friends. I don't know all the details just offering other possibilities.
