If it all comes down to common sense then you do believe there is a singular way to act

No, because people will do whatever they want to when it comes down to it. Which is why I'm not one of those people who naively believes that people shouldn't use the word "nigger" and that it should be somehow banned. There are many people who personally don't find the word offensive but out of respect for other people when they are out in the general public will not use the word because of the history behind the word and that many people,no matter race, are offended by that word, as well as not wanting to give truly ignorant & racists individuals any justification for wanting to legitimately use the word whenever they see fit even though they will use it regardless anyway.

......Is this offensive.......This is a case where family can be very helpful....He needs to take her, wearing the shirt, to his family reunion......with his Aunts and Uncles and Grandparents and better-still Great grandparents.....Collectively, they would all offer him a very complete answer........they might even offer the couple an ass-whipping in the process.....

But that's kind of the point with kids this young they are trying to rebel and indulge in youth culture. They wouldn't do this around adults much like when I was kid with my fitted caps, I wouldn't dare wear that in my grandma's house she hated it, same with letting my pants sag or show my piercings (which was far more offensive to her because it was considered desecrating my body).

yes but 20 years from now when people are posting this on the internet will it look so good for her career?

Please don't even get me started on the prospects of careers 20 years from now. Personally I feel like she and everyone alive at that point will have far bigger issues to be concerned about that will eclipse her wearing a shirt with nigga on it.

We seriously need a shift in priorities before time runs out. Shit like this is incredibly inconsequential.

Dude, quit trying to play this shit off as "rebellious youth culture". When you were younger would you have worn a shirt that said "I LOVE FUCKING WHITE PUSSY" around the family of any white girl you were interested in just to come across as a "rebel"?

His family can surf the Internet and find it assuming that shirt actually says that. all we know it, It could say I love Nigeria and someone photoshopped it.

Ever stop to think that maybe HE bought the shirt for HER? Just a thought....after reading xoxo's posts, I tend to agree that it might've been PS'd.

Still, idk how you can sit there and say "From what I can tell..." You're ASSUMING she never wore it around his family, which suggests to me that you DO find it offensive in some form. If it is as innocuous as you claim, there should be no problem where or in front of whom she wears it. Right?

I don't find it offensive. Its no more offensive than dumb shirts that say shit like P.I Pussy Inspector or PHD Pretty Huge Dick. I just know even at 32 that my mom would find it offensive so I wouldn't wear it around her. It's not to say I wouldn't wear it all when I was a kid. Teenage girls where shit like Milf in training, it's usually for attention amongst their peer groups not an actual statement of feeling.

......O.K we tried the generation up,.. Let us now try the generation down...As you go forward in your life at 32, you are more than adequate age to father a son.
If your son with his young white girlfriend accompanied you and your wife on company picnic, would you, as his father, be O.K. with that young white girlfriend wearing that shirt?...........For the sake of discussion, it is very important that we have some idea of just where your tolerance would end...if at all it has an end……....

So, if you see a white person (or black person) wearing this...

...you won't get offended, right? After all, it's just context and to them...it's all about southern pride.
