Odd that he's rehashing his drug-dealing, though it's a first admission of his past sins to admit that he contributed to the deaths of many...wonder if he donates to drug rehab programs...

Hip hop mogul Jay Z, one of the richest men in the music industry, has admitted he got his business skills from drug dealing.

He said selling crack cocaine on the streets of New York during the 1980s gave him the skills to succeed later in life.

'I know about budgets. I was a drug dealer,' said the 43 year old who is married to singer Beyonce. To be in a drug deal, you need to know what you can spend, what you need to re-up.'

Jay Z has never hidden his past as a drug dealer before he found fame and fortune as a music producer.

He told Vanity Fair magazine he was part of the crack cocaine epidemic that blighted the streets of New York and was responsible for hundreds of deaths.

Jay Z said he now regrets being part of the drug problem but said at the time he was only thinking about the money.

'Not until later, when I realized the effects on the community,' he said. 'I started looking at the community on the whole, but in the beginning no.

'I was thinking about surviving. I was thinking about improving my situation. I was thinking about buying clothes.'

Jay Z told the October issue of the magazine that the most important plan a drug dealer can have is to get out of the business.

'You have to have an exit strategy, because your window(for dealing drugs) is very small. You're going to get locked up or you're going to die.'

On a happier note, Jay revealed his 18-month-old daughter, Blue Ivy, has become his biggest cheerleader after hearing his latest album Magna Carta... Holy Grail.

'She loves all the songs. She plays a song and she goes, "More, Daddy, more... Daddy song." She’s my biggest fan,' he said. 'If no one bought the Magna Carta [album], the fact that she loves it so much, it gives me the greatest joy.

'And that’s not like a cliché. I’m really serious. She’s genuine, she’s honest, because she doesn’t know it makes me happy. She just wants to hear it.'

In 2008 he married Beyonce and the couple are the richest couple in the music business with an estimated fortune of more than $750million between them.

Admitting 'of course' he pursued Beyonce, Jay maintains he would have charmed her even if he had been working a 'normal job' and not been a famous hip hop star.

'If I’m as cool as I am, yes. But she’s a charming Southern girl, you know, she’s not impressed... But I would have definitely had to be this cool.'

He also confirms that the line on his latest album: 'She was a good girl ’til she knew me' is about his wife.

When quizzed if she is no longer a 'good girl', Jay-Z responds: 'Nah. She’s gangsta now.'

Not really a surprise, isn't it.. At least he is honest. The only way to get out of poverty and to finance your legal ideas is an illegal way. Sad, but realistic.

To add a little more, usually its the illegal activities that show people how to do things the legal way.

I don't why people find this ass-clown so entertaining. I like the fact he's being honest.... I think it's it's too late for someone who sold their sole a long time ago. :smt037

Jay Z and Beyonce are "unofficial" ambassadors for Pres Obama and Michelle.

They have been on the official White House guest list since day one.

I think Jay is putting out his dirty laundry from his past out now and has future plans on running for political office.

It's the same thing Obama did before announcing his bid for President. He wrote 2 books airing out his past, that's why they couldn't find any dirt on him. The only shit they could find was Rev Wright screaming about some dumbshit.

Funny how drug dealers get a bad rep when CEOs do a million times worst.

not every CEO is fucking over people. You can't say the same about crack drug dealers.

They provide people with an option not their fault if people take it.

Why even bring this up??? While some CEO's may do this, NO drug dealer does society any good. Why you would even give a nod to them is beyond me.

It is against the law to do so. It is their fault for providing this option.

Drugs offer people a way out its not all bad in fact its far less devastating than what happens to produce the cheap goods we seem to love in this country. Drug dealers aren't forcing people into slavery to produce, sell, and use their products. Their products aren't destroying the air we breathe and water we drink. In moderation the products don't cause cancer like other corporations. And most drug dealers aren't fricking Pablo Escobar. A shit ton are weed dealers trying to make ends meet. Granted crack devastates neighborhood but no different than the Gap. They just don't show it so you don't believe it.

I can tell you first hand, this is dangerously not true.

    Comedy gold.

Today I learned that crack, weed, and meth dealers aren't all bad. Hysterical. In fact, every young black male should aspire to such lofty positions.

...... wait.... but you jumped on my back when I said porn stars shouldn't be forced to use condoms, that they have a CHOICE not to participate in films where condoms are not allowed.

Your slum scum apologetics are completely mind boggling. I get that you do not like big corporations, and I'm right there with you. However, they have absolutely nothing to do with this discussion. You're basically using them as a diversionary argument tactic. What you are essentially saying is "This isn't as bad as that, which means this isn't bad". Drug dealers DO recruit our kids, make NO mistake about that. The street drug trade plays a big part in a lot of the violence on our streets, make NO mistake about that. In moderation, their products don't cause disease? That statement holds true for pretty much everything. However, how many drug users do you know that use drugs moderately? Are we really comparing the impact of crack on a neighborhood to the gap? I don't know anyone who steals from their loved ones for a pair of skinny jeans...

    Come on man...
