the point is your anti-black woman attitude blinds you to the ovbvious. her ass is the best in fashion.
you contradict yourself. you on one hand want to say it's superficial but want to discount racial attitudes. 5 models doesn't change the overall enviroment the same way obama or booker didn't change america.
I did not say that those 5 models changed the fashion industry's attitude on race. These women made their presence known ;and with a little help from outside pressure from black groups. Those covert views will not go away. These women did not set out to change society. They, and others before and since them, showed the industry and the world that there is beauty in black women, as well. They simply said, like the old song,"Hey, Look Me Over". Everybody wants to be looked over, it doesn't matter what the profession is. It is, of course up to the powers-that-be and how they feel about a model's professional reputation. These women wanted to inspire women of color that they can be beautiful, too. They knew it wasn't permanent, but they stayed on as much as they they were needed. And they left their mark. Their careers were springboards to other things like fashion design, acting, etc. Very few models, regardless of race, stay for the long haul. In the 80's, a few white women were featured in fashion photospreads in Essence magazine.
I never noticed anything unusual....if someone defends a BW on here, does that automatically make the individual a (black) woman?
No nothing to do with defending BW, her style, content and tone of communication has led many to believe that she is here incognito hoping to see disparaging comments regarding BW, which is not what this site is about.
Ahhh. Ok. I'm usually pretty good at reading between the lines, but I guess I missed it this time. Thanks, Loki!
oh please. you're own insecure behind should remember that yourself. i don't when liking ww=bashing bw. last i checked you are the one with the reputation of bringing nothing to this board but negativity. start loving yourself little man.
don't pay them any mind. they ascribe to the idea that bashing bw is they are the good black ppl. i don't see how a thread about racism in fashion leads to bashing naomi.
you speak some facts but remember they must not of have that great of an impact if we are having so many back to back seasons of all-white runways.
That is because of the powers-that-be at these events. Or the model's schedule may have an issue. And then there is health issues. Or these models are working on other projects. Just because they are not walking the catwalks of Paris, London, Milan, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, New York City, and Miami doesn't mean they don't have other things to do. They have latitude if they choose to use it.
you are right and you are wrong. what i meanis yes black ppl needto build institutions that empower them, but at the same time there's a difference between paris,ny, milan and london vs rio, hk and la. but you do make a good point, but at the end of the day there is nothing wrong with calling ppl out for racism.
No need to be serious all the time. Come and visit the mens locker room, and don't forget to post some lovely pics of white women.
