why is this not a trending topic on the front page of yahoo or twitter? I was watching CNN this morning and there was no mention of water shortages.

Occupy failed for completely different reasons. Occupiers resilience broke somewhere between poor organization, the police being used against their peaceful protests, and their unwillingness to elevate their peaceful protests to another level. The US government and major corporations knew that they could just sit it out and eventually it would go away.

 

Plus they were basically afraid to take a stand on anything. Occupy was wishy washy, that's why it disappeared
