No, the wrong thing to do is still the wrong thing to do. This is one pf those cases where they should lose their job and be applauded as heroes at the same time.

In that it is policy violation to look at customer data, yes... Doesn't mean I'm not glad that they found what they found and doesn't mean that I'm not glad that the guy got busted. It does mean that I have no doubt if I brought my computer into best buy and they saw files "Me_titty_fucking_my_wife.jpg" that they'd have that and any other files copied to USB and brought home to their private collection.
How does this not bother you? Would you expect a plumber or a carpenter to take valuables after they repair your pipes or your busted wood floor? It's the same thing. A compute is like a "house" that shouldn't be ransacked by a "professional" just because they were allowed in to do a repair job.
No it isn't. Looking and taking are two different things. I expect for the plumber to also look at stuff in my house.
