    Dr Mark Dean
    [IMG]

He holds 3 of the original 9 patents on the computer that all PCs are based upon.

    Dr. Patricia E. Bath
    [IMG]

Invented a method of eye surgery that has helped many blind people to see.

    Emmett W. Chappelle
    [IMG]

Chappelle advanced the development of laser-induced fluorescence as a means to detect plant stress. This technique allows scientists to determine the health of crops and measure their productivity based on the amount of light they emit. Using this information, farmers and crop specialists can adjust planting, irrigation, and fertilization patterns, greatly improving food production.

    Alice Parker

In 1919, Alice Parker of Morristown, New Jersey, invented a new and improved gas heating furnace that provided central heating.

    Frederick McKinley Jones
    [IMG]

One of the most prolific Black inventors ever, Jones patented more than 60 inventions in his lifetime. While more than 40 of those patents were in the field of refrigeration, Jones is most famous for inventing an automatic refrigeration system for long haul trucks and railroad cars.

Before Jones' invention, the only way to keep food cool in trucks was to load them with ice. Jones was inspired to invent the system after talking with a truck driver who lost his whole cargo of chicken because he couldn't reach his destination before the ice melted. As a solution, the African-American inventor developed a roof-mounted cooling system to make sure food stayed fresh.

In addition to that refrigerator invention, Jones also invented an air-conditioning unit for military field hospitals, a refrigerator for military field kitchens, a self-starting gas engine, a series of devices for movie projectors and box-office equipment that gave tickets and made change.

But...but....none of that means anything. Fools running around with gold teeth, gold chains & saggy pants acting like dummies trump all that positive stuff blacks folks have achieved. Black folks need to do more and right now, damn it!! That is just not good enough.....

They don't want to learn that's the problem. Truth doesn't matter I'm beginning to notice there are mothafuckas out there who truly hate being black so much so they will support irrational unfounded horse shit in hopes of being accepted into the white fold. Everything they point out is out of fear that others will see them in the same light, they could give a fuck less about how it impacts any other person's life.

thats just sad to see how we're categorized to be 'criminals' and shit, when only a very small population of us commits crimes

    thats horseshit racism

well that's the problem with racism, sexism, agism, and other isms is it doesn't have to be true in order for dummies to believe it.
The fact that one third of Republicans from Louisiana think that Obama is responsible for how the government handled hurricane Katrina says everything I need to know about racists in this country. It's also why I have little faith in our ability to truly band together in a crisis because they cling to dumb shit and will continue to do so because they don't have to think differently.

Have loved Ms Bath. Her specific was for cataract surgery.

Love Mr. Jones too. Mentioned him in my earlier post to Mikey below.

Also adding to (George Edward Alcorn's) invention of the x-ray spectrometer, it was so prolific in the thermomigration of aluminum, NASA awarded him Inventor of the Year Award for it.

Well here's thing @ Newton getting the shine and not Ancient Africa, Egypt and to an extent Greece, is that we know (and you know) history taught is biased. For example, many people don't that Lattimer Lewis helped draft Alexander Bell's telephone patent. He also rivaled Thomas Edison in the electrical lighting field.

No way would I learn this in Australian school, nor America if I grew up here.

In fact, I only learned of Timbuktu, Mali's first recognized University by taking African American History Studies in college. I also learned about the TRUE raw unfiltered Slave trade (not the Roots version). To this day I hold my professor in the highest esteem as he is to me the utmost quintessential (Black) man who shaped so much of my knowledge. I am so grateful to him for he fed my thirst and never once made me feel out of sorts being the only WP in his class.

This is why I don't get on Mikey like you all do, because he is the norm, not the exception. Many people (all races) don't know, many don't care to know or care if they know, and many just plain don't want to know.

It's criminal the lack of history they teach in American schools.
By not teaching a fuller sense of history in our schools, IMO you are contributing to the cultural and social decay of this nation.

The self-destructive behaviors we see in many economically deprived neighborhoods is in many cases an issue of poor self-esteem.
When you feel worthless and your life isn't worth shit, it's easier to fall into a criminal mindset.

It's the reason guys like Mikey fear the negative impact more of a Black man wearing a grill and gold chains instead of feeling empowered by how much so many of us have achieved despite the obstacles.

It reminds me of the flak the Cosby Show received back in the day for being a 'fake' non-authentic portrayal of Black folk.
A Black doctor married to a Black lawyer?? Come on son. That's straight science fiction.lol
What's sad is that there were Blacks as well as Whites who felt this way.
I'm glad at the time I wasn't watching the Cosby Show on that level. As a kid it was just another sitcom.

    Mental chains Mikey. Break them.

Racists want you feel inferior because it advances their agenda. It has nothing at all to do with historical facts, actual crime data, bling or 20 inch rims.

So when myself and other black guys are supporting the point of view from white guys on the comment boards who have ideas on improving the conditions of the black race means that I'm moving away from my blackness and going into the white fold? Instead of brushing them aside, we should be fortunate that white people like that even exist in the country. What do you believe should be representative of blackness if what they propose isn't good enough for our race?

Martin Luther King had two stints in jail and problems with his marriage to Corretta. Just because a white guy explained that and I supported it doesn't mean that we're racist and think lowly about our own kind. Those are facts about the guy. He had notable achievements as well, such as stopping bus segregation, and civil rights causes. Other people who contributed in the 50s and 60s to the black cause aren't mentioned, as if MLK was literally the only person in a position of leadership who did anything. I don't need to learn human communications because I don't have an issue speaking to people in person. I actually do just fine there. On here, there's nothing you have to worry about with how you talk to people because you're typing in a text box and not speaking to someone. And what's the name of the college you went to?

You also mentioned about me being critical about race - but it makes sense. Again, I'll use pictures to prove my point.

Just by looking at the picture, you can just infer that there's something seriously incompatible between blacks and whites. Especially pay attention to the white guy walking on the sidewalk that looked exhausted and angry, and the one that looks like he just saw some kind of an alien fly right by him.

When Ra told me about a first hand experience about living, I would explain to him that I haven't had a disappointing experience with all white people I've met in my life. During my enlistment into the Maryland National Guard, I've got along fine with Sgt. Larkins and Cpl. Sievers. The day before we traveled to MEPS in Fort Meade (Military Entrance Processing Station), we stayed in a hotel and played Call of Duty, NBA Live, and Madden NFL. Nobody was thinking about race or George Zimmerman while I was there. And as a matter of fact, this incident is even more damaging because it affects people who serve in the military to an even deeper extent than it is for the general public. This incident might cause black people who serve in the armed forces to lose respect from whites and other people.

If I had a job as a custodian mopping floors or cleaning toilets, would my words actually be useful? I don't think your right. And who do you see doing those jobs? Either a BM or a BW is doing it. And the custodians at my university are in fact BM and BW.

Ok. We have made good enough inventions. Thanks for the information.

This is the thing, Mikey. You're taking an opinion about MLK from people who are deliberately trying to marginalize the man's history.

MLK directly lobbied U.S. presidents(LBJ/Kennedy) to get meaningful Civil Rights legislation passed. he and the SCLC put an incredible amount of moral pressure on the President and Congress to radically change our Civil Rights and Voting rights laws.
Yes there were tens of thousands of foot soldiers in the Civil Rights movement, many of whom whose contributions have been noted, but to act as if MLK has received undo attention or celebrity for his direct role in improving the social and economic conditions of Black folk in this country is a subtly racist argument IMO.

As Beasty stated, MLK did more to advance the conditions and life situations of all of us, not just Blacks. The man put his life on the line for his cause, knew he was going to be killed for his views and it didn't stop him.

When someone says MLK wasn't the most prominent or important figure in the Civil Rights movement, ask them who else should be receiving more praise historically but isn't??

Bet they can't mention ONE single name, because that's not their agenda.
Their mission is to sell the idea that MLK is overrated and he didn't do that much.

If not for MLK advocating a non-violent form of civil disobedience, this country might have descended into race riots coast to coast, in every major city.

I feel as if you aren't even remotely informed on these subjects, Mikey, and then seek to 'educate' yourself from people who have a hostile and negative attitude towards the group you represent.

Why are you on conservative internet sites seeking to gain a deeper understanding about the socioeconomic struggles of Blacks anyway??

    That's insanity.

BTW, even Colin Powell has come out today with the opinion the George Zimmerman verdict was.......questionable.

That's saying a lot from a Black conservative.

Well, I was probably wrong about King. When you really think about it, it feels like we've suddenly moved back into the 1970s or 1980s - specifically because of what has taken place only in 2013, and the year isn't even finished yet and something else that is race related could still occur in the Fall or in December. Literally, it feels like everything has exploded over, not just with Blacks, but with many racial groups, even Asian men. Even in late January, when I wasn't here, Christopher Dorner went on his rampage which was based on how he was treated on the police force and about ousting a corrupt officer in the LA police department. There's probably a long thread about that here.

I'll frame what I'm trying to say about the MLK thing this way. I believe the present black leadership that we have now, gun laws, and our media (view: http://www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/v...d-pkg-fox-dads-tv-show-called-racist.cnn.html) are reducing the gains that MLK and other civil rights leaders have made. Frankly, I don't think many people even realize it. Unfortunately, you may have to think of the progress as a mathematical parabola, which is a line on a graph that goes up, peaks at a certain point, and goes back down. Like it or not, unfortunately we are the cause of why racial progress is being erased and civil rights leaders are being diminished in their representation because of several things, in addition to the rest of our black leadership, which includes Sharpton, Holder, and Jackson. It can be proven that they de-legitimatize what MLK has done in the past. Some of those posters on CNN tried to apply that perspective. Also, Stinkmeaner proves that with the latest thread that he made.

And when you mentioned about the sites, I was just looking for information that appeared to make sense, not looking for a political slant. And also, I may be wrong about this, but didn't Martin Luther King identify as a Republican or a conservative?

Edit: I forgot to mention about the 2011 riots in England, that's a contributing factor also.

If that is the only thing you are qualified to do go and do it son. Judging by your posts I think you would learn something. Custodians have some degree of responsibility, unlike the kid that just flaps his gums for the hell of it.

No, you never knew what my major was. It's information technology - with an emphasis in cybersecurity. Similar to people like Edward Snowden when he breached sensitive information from the US government. With the knowledge from my degree and stuff that I've learned, I'm able to pretty much download everything on your account on to my computer and read every post you've made without being on WWBM. I can even check out what you've got on your Yahoo account.
