I'm not concern about it being a bad idea if the comic book writers will be the ones writing and directing it. My issue is that I will not get that. I haven't seen good stuff when it wasn't them.
Comic book writers write just as much crappy shit for the comics as any movie directors nowadays. What's been the last good idea to happen in comics??
In defense of comics... Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi is pretty good so far. So is Lord Baltimore. Star Wars: Legacy's Cade Skywalker storyline is probably the best comic in a few years. The Strain is also pretty good. Anyone got any other good comics suggestions? And, in the shameful admissions category, I'm confessing that I've never seen the Animatrix yet, so I bought a used copy.
It has been so long since I have talked about animatrix. The first part was good but there was a few let downs. I won't spoil it for you.:smt081 We can talk about it after you have seen it.
My knock against comics was more against the well established Marvel & DC Universes, since the writers have chosen to stray far from the path of what a lot of the characters are about for a good long while now. There are a lot of good comics out by many of the other established publisher like Image & Dark Horse. Check out Invincible by Image if you want a superhero comic outside of Marvel/DC. It's created & written by the Robert Kirkman the guy behind the Walking Dead comics.
I really don't see the big deal with Affleck playing Batman. He's shown to be a pretty good actor and can deliver some entertaining performances. I vaguely recall Heath Ledger and how fans were upset that the guy who played a gay cowboy in Brokeback Mountain would play the role of The Joker. But, after his performance, people cried for him to get an award. Anyway, here's an article about five other actors who would be considered and one surprising choice would be related to us in a way. And...comments below...a different controversy ensues. http://www.eonline.com/news/451942/...r-batman?cmpid=par-121113-outbrain-paid-links
Idris Elba's name always comes up when people are thinking of a strong heroic looking actor. The race thing aside, he is a natural looking superhero. Having said that, he would be a terrible idea for Batman. Bruce Wayne is a White guy, end of story. However, since DC/Warner Brothers are clearly ramping up for a Justice League movie, Id love to see Idris playing John Stewart Green Lantern.
I humbly agree. Unless he plays Batwing, then no sense in changing Bruce Wayne's ethnicity. And...he would make the perfect John Stewart.
Yeah, and people where scratching their heads back when Micheal Keaton was picked to play Batman in Tim Burton's crack at the character back in the late 80's and look what happened with that. I wonder what would have happened if Alec Baldwin had actually accepted the part, since he was Burton's actual first choice for the role? Of the five choices Richard Armitage would have been my pick, but of course his being British probably worked against him after Bale and with Cavill being British, couldn't have two "American icons" being Non-Americans I would bet.
The animation is cool, but I found the constant shifting between styles distracting and it took away from the stories continuity. I also didn't like the whole machine nation vignette. It was worth the $6 I paid for it, but nothing to write home about.
You didn't like the interracial romance in the first one? I thought that was the best. I do agree about the switching up. I sort of had the same feeling with batman dark knight. I thought the runner segment was creative.
Forget that I want to see Michael Jai White as Green Lantern. Dude is made for being a leading superhero but always gets shit roles. Its enraging.
