You mind giving some examples. I have not heard any new "ganster rap" in at least a decade. I would like know what the idea of gansta rap is now days. At least tell the name of the artists.
Right, because gangster rap died when Ice-T and NWA stopped putting out albums. You know good and well what modern day gangster rap is.
Gangster rap, or crime rhyme has died out. Ice-T's Colors video had been remade with Ice telling the listeners not to join a gang. Notorious B.I.G.'s last album was entitled Ready To Die. Easy E had a few rap songs before he died. Back in the days, Gangster rap was action movies for the ears. Low-budget action films featuring rappers holding one or two guns on the box of a video or DVD was considered heroic. They were ready to take armed action against all comers. These images almost elevate the rapper to hero status. But it doesn't last long.
Ice T and NWA go back much further than a decade. I don't know what anyone's idea of gangsta rap is now days, it would help to know what your idea is if you were actually open to a discussion on the matter. However it is obvious how easy it is to write something off as gangsta if you simply don't like it.
truth about what? Sure there is a lot of garbage on the radio, but people around here seem to gravitate to the artists that produce substance. Have you not seen Bliss thread on quotes from the best that done it? How about the what you are listening to thread? You have been highly critical about rap in general instead of being critical of the dumb asses that only buy the music of artists that rap mostly about people shaking their asses and the radio stations that mostly play bullshit instead of the substance that hip hop has to offer.
Dude, I think he was saying I need to be more critical toward you.... weren't you just giving Drake and P.Diddy props?
Uhhh, no... I'm not critical about rap in general. I'm critical about the sub-genre of rap commonly recognized as 'gangster rap'. I'm critical about the rap and rap artists that profit by promoting my people as being exactly what racist white America has been identifying us as for years.... Uhhh, no... people around here do not gravitate to the artists that produce substance. People around here are all over the place in what they listen to. For the most part, there are a few that are aware of conscious rap but a larger number are more influenced by the radio garbage. Anyway, not that I have to defend myself or my position, but go read the 'damn I love hip-hop' thread and then come back and tell me again what my position on rap music is.
