I remember learning about this experiment in college. One of my colleagues tried it in an all white class room with 8 year olds.

They were removed because they didn't want to 'oppress' the blue eyed people.

I was both repelled and fascinated by their reactions. The fact that there are people who are not aware of racism/white privilege is astonishing to me, how can people walk around with blinkers on? I so believe that education on racism should be introduced in schools in predominantly white populated countries.

you can't introduce something to people that already think it doesn't exist. I've come to realize people who agree with these kinds of studies already have an open mind those who don't have a closed mind and there's nothing you can do to change them. No amount of education will change them if they refuse to change.

Ahh, then I should watch again. I took it as they did not want to be the oppressed.

That's how I took it too.

That's how I took it as well. IMO they weren't thinking about anyone but themselves.

The people to be oppressed, the 'blue eyed peeps' was separated, in another room. It is shown and mentioned, they were separated for 2 hours. The discussion we see, is before the two groups are joined.

The people to do the oppression was 'brown eyed people'. The people leaving didn't want to oppress the 'blue eyed people' - either because they didn't want to oppress 'peers' I.e., other white people, or simply not oppress at all. I won't judge on that because I don't know their objective.... But I suspect.... Its a part of the experiment, what will the white peeps w brown eyes do when faced with oppressing, white people w 'blue eyes'. Did you see the kids in the beginning? Mostly white kids. Oppressing each other based on eye color.
Why am I the only one that sees this?
The dude first leaving has brown eyes, is being sent to join the 'blue eyed' group.
If you follow to the end, you see they briefly mention how the 'blue eyed' people reacted to the 'oppression' once they were joined with the 'brown eyed' group. They were separated merely by eye color, nothing else.

It was all a funny situation IMO. Imagine the things I must endure as a black man trying to live a positive life in this negative society.

I'm sorry, I don't fund it funny at all. Did you really watch?. It shows the ignorance of white privilege in a glaring light, in several ways. Not even close to 'funny'.

Yes I watched it. I felt sad but yet understanding for the black guy. Him not wanting to put his daughter through the ridicule was love. It was funny to me because a staged situation (the video) can't compare to real life situations that we as black me go through every single day.
