    That really was so interesting.
I don't pretend to be very intelligent, or to have any real grasp on how things are for any kind of minority in this way. My boyfriend has told me that this is just the way it is for black people, and you just ''get used to it'', but god, how crap is that? How dreadful? And this is in our day and age, when we are meant to be so much more ''enlightened'' and less ignorant, more accepting etc.
Some of the images there were just awful.
I am still frighteningly naive, but since being with him, I am trying to learn bit by bit.
Rascism is abhorant to me, it always has been, more so as I get older. I have three children, and I will not tolerate any kind of rascism, even displayed 'innocently', as kids just being silly and not meaning anything by it.

A lot of people are that way without thinking its a problem, just ''having a laugh'' and it makes me sick sometimes to hear how people talk. Not really being aggressive with it or ''meaning anything''.
Like I said, I am pretty naive, and probably quite ignorant too.

I see prejudice for other reasons. My eldest child has a lot of issues with his sexuality, or rather no, I said that wrong. HE has no issues with it, but its those around him that do, and it makes me sick to know that he will go through life on the receiving end of stupid, brainless idiots that cannot accept anyone that is even slightly out of their comfort zone and level of acceptance.

I have a lot to learn and still a lot to experience on these issues, but I still want to believe that this world is a mainly good place, but this kind of thing reminds me that it is still can be a horrible, ignorant, cruel and shitty place sometimes.

Well I think that was the point of her study was to shake some white people out of their complacency and to show them that their experience isn't the universal experience. I admire people like her so much because she was willing to this when challenging the status quo wasn't easy like it is today and continued to do it for more than 40 years. Talk about being the real deal.
Btw I do admire and appreciate your acknowledgement that there are things about it you don't know but you are willing to learn. That is truly amazing to me especially since you're in a position where you really don't have to.

Well I suppose thats the point really. We live in this world where we can pretend this kind of rubbish doesn't really go on anymore. I live in my safe white world I suppose, and maybe if I hadn't met my man I would have no reason to even think about these things the way that I do.
I despise any kind of prejudice, I really do, but I also realise that it will go on forever no matter how I or anyone else feels about it.

I don't think so. I honestly never would have dreamed there would be a black man as president in this country especially with it's history. So who knows? Maybe there is hope for the future.

I'll say this about the bold....there is no getting used to it..we're all born into this system so its all you know. Its like being born poor..you don't realize that your poor until you see how people with some money live then you have an "oh shit" moment..but until then..its life as you know it.

It should be in schools in 3rd 6th and 9th grade to really make the point.

well of course, I meant with prejudice of all kinds really, not just rascism. There will always be stupid, ignorant dicks in this world unfortunately.

well no you're right, when I am out with him, and little old ladies (usually) look at us like I'm walking down the street with a bloody alien or something, I sometimes want to say something to them, but he's like ''whatever....'', he probably doesn't even notice it. Then you get the other kind who try go the other way to show that they approve, and overly smile as if we are adorable and they are saying ''good for youuuuuu!!''. Sometimes it makes me laugh, but sometimes it makes me want to scream.

Like I said before, I get it in two different ways, I have a black boyfriend, and I have a very feminine and possibly gay son. Sometimes I just want to set fire to the world lol. But that makes me just as bad I suppose. I am naive, yes, and have quite an innocent mind I suppose, but it just really gets to me. I haven't experienced anything overly serious in either situation, just a few looks and comments that leave me thinking ''did you just say that out loud you idiot??'' and I hope I never have to.

This shit is pissing me off. The complete lack of understanding or acceptance of white privilege is infuriating. I found myself spitting during the three episodes I managed to watch. I wanna high five some of them, in the face, with a brick.:(

Wtf, you now on the receiving end and you defend the system? 'I'm tubby, I cant find a suite that fits me, I accept that' ' my husband is a rugby player and don't want go dress nicely, he accepts that and dress nicely', yeah, that is exactly the same as being black. 535%*=;:;:,:+&($((=,:,:+:+:+:+:+;+;+%,=,&(%)$9=7-%,=- argh!

I don't say this often enough but it really helps me as a man especially a black one to see people that are truly capable of empathy. So many people aren't when it comes to kind of thing and its awesome that you guys are.

I watched the whole thing two years back and it's very interesting to see how people are so eager to deny certain things and then still don't get it when they are on the receiving end.

I especially loved the people who were so resistant to being put in the 'non-white' position that the only option was to remove them from the class.
