If that is a big concern to you, there are actually sites that do that, or soon might. In fact, Legislature was introduced in a few States, including Illinois, New Jersey and Texas that if they don't do a criminal background check on their members, they must disclose it.

"The legislation would require online dating websites to tell customers if criminal background checks are done before they can start using the site' And "if companies don't follow the law they face fines of up to $50,000"...Two well-known online dating websites, Match.com and eHarmony, said they screen subscribers against public sex offender registries."

Some sites will also do a check to see if the member is married. This all no doubt stems from lawsuits and complaints.

I've only ever tried free dating sites. I'm sorry but I refuse to pay money to meet someone!!

I've met three men face to face in the past year or so, and one of them wanted me just for sex (although he had a very fancy charming way of hiding that for a couple of weeks haha), while the other two weren't that way at all. The first one lasted for three months, but he turned out to be a bit of a pleb, and I realised that he just turned my stomach lol, and the second one I'm still with six months on.

I meant to respond last night but was too damn tired for this kind of bs.
"The stigma of not being a good girl"???
    Seriously???
If I would feel like getting laid by a different guy every weekend, I would go for it, no matter what it would make me look like.
I just don't wanna do it.
Even when you start a new relationship, the first sexual encounters usually aren't that great.
Exciting? Yeah, absolutely, but not really that satisfying (my experience).
It gets better and better once the couple starts building trust and finds out what the other one likes.
So why should I go out and have sex with someone who doesn't want to see me again, and doesn't care what I get out of it? And all of that without the hope that the quality of the sex will improve over time, since there will be no next time?
Plus risk the chance of catching something on top of it?

    Please.....

Daters kind of do that anyway, right? Put a nice pix, never disclose bad habits - only good ones, so online ads are much like dating/love resumes. And often there is inflating of confidence, which is understandable given a person wanting to stand out, or capture the best person.

I do think in this day and age, circumstances are such that many parents are now single parents, or divorced with full or most custody. So it IS important to know who exactly it is that a parent potentially exposes their child to.

I feel at the least, what Match and Eharmony do is a good thing. You can't bring your child fully back from exposing them to a sexual predator... If a parent decided to do it themselves, would not recommend asking the person outright if it gets serious, but both parties should at least entertain that a name-check could occur if about to be around someone else's children unsupervised. (In fact, it may even be checked by the ex-spouse, if they know their kid will be alone with their ex's new love). If couples do prenups and blood tests, a sex-offender check is no less important.

    LOL. :)

you never ask a woman about her past?

I ask. how many times have you been married? how many kids do you have?

If they have multiple kids multiple dads and never been married...........back into the pool they go.

Not sex resumes, resumes related towards employment.

If they've had a sexual history that's dysfunctional, that's important to know. So that's why I should ask.

Well yeah, some people do. They mention that they are "420 friendly", which means that they casually use marijuana/weed, which I don't like since I'd never get involved with things like that. Also, I would prefer that the girl doesn't have pets (dog, cat, bird, lizard, etc) and piercings in certain places (such as around the lips and tongue).

I would ask for a criminal background check, for them to be honest with drug use, probably something else I haven't figured out yet, and a resume. I would also exchange my own papers with my partner I'd meet also. I have no criminal convictions or brushes with the law at all, other than a speeding ticket and that's it.

You can go here to perform background checks on people:

    http://casesearch.courts.state.md.us/inquiry/inquiry-index.jsp

What I prefer rules out a lot of women automatically, but when I do find someone (any woman of any race, I don't care), it would be a great discovery that works out for a long time.
