You're telling me that I'm not allowed to comment on how bored I was with all six movies? I'm not a nut like some people who get riled up over such comments. I saw it and could never get into it. I enjoyed the few games which came out of it, but nothing that compelled me to maintain interest in the story or the universe. As it stands...campy, glorified soap opera nonsense in my book. Besides, I've seen porn adaptions that rivals even the original trilogy. :smt003 It had to be done, bro. It had to be done.
You have a right to your opinion. And as for the people you call "nuts", it is because we "nuts" care about science fiction and will rise to defend it. You obviously knew that when you make the decision to comment, you know you are in the hornet's nest. You're an adult, right? You can take as well as you can dish it out, right? Or do you just stand from a safe distance to watch the world burn? If guys like you aren't saying anything respectful, you're not having any fun.
And Darth Vader neglected to pay his child support. :butthead: It doesn't bother me. My statement remains and it'll be a firm one, Gorath. If you knew my history on here, you'd know I won't back down, nor bow out. I'm a lot crazier in person too. :smt023
Ha! No problems Bro, It's ok to go against the grain of nerdom every once and awhile. Hell, I'd probably get my nerd card pulled for not liking Joss Whedon and thinking The Dark Knight Trilogy was overrated.
It's not that I didn't like the Dark Knight movies. It's just that they weren't Batman enough for me. Nolan's plan to make a 'realistic' Batman went a little too far. He stripped out the "Super" from superhero. Nolan's Batman could have been anybody, Bruce Wayne didn't feel unique or exceptional. A fact that was proven in the last movie, when we see him... **spoilers** Hand over reigns to "Robin" with no training or special skills whatsoever. They were good movies, just not good Batman movies.
You know what you make a good point. Never thought of it that way. He was suppose to have a super intellect and that was never exhibited nor his superior athleticism
I agree that they gave his super intellect short shrift, but I think the whole League of Shadows subplot in the first and last installments gave a decent sense of how tough that training was and his superior athleticism. Maybe not as much as it could have, but passable. Lord Vader never assumed 'personal responsibility'. Lmao
I don't know your history and and I don't care. I won't back down, nor bow out, either. May The Force Be With You.
Nolan was making a movie about Bruce Wayne's journey. As Batman, in this stage of the story, he has not perfected his abilities. Like James Bond, or Smallville's Kal-El/Clark Kent, he is just getting started. It isn't going to be perfect in the beginning. It's not meant to be because this is the hero's journey.
The Force is strong with this one... Morning Star, I find your lack of faith disturbing...lol
I can agree to The Dark Knight Trilogy being overrated. It's a good trilogy, but a wild base of people can turn that into something beyond its reach. I'm not too big into sci-fi personally, although I have seen the genre being a great place for making ideas become reality. To be fair, regarding his intellect and Olympian athletic physique, he was still learning, so don't expect him to really have a strong handle. Also, he needs months of preparation and time and familiarity in order to have a strong advantage over any enemy or situation.
May My Poop Be Your Guide. Amen. P.S. Do you like waffles? I once saw Vader used his Jedi Mind trick to purchase a pack of Skittles and a bag of dingleberries. He used them quite well. After all...it was for the Death Star's fuel system.
Nevermind the whole idea of his "retiring" for eight years and the police & city bureaucrats being able to clean up Gotham through stricter laws & policing. One of the main reasons for there being a Batman in Gotham is that it is one of the most corrupt cities in the DC Universe with many of the police and city officials being just as criminal minded as the criminal underworld figures & the super criminals. Commissioner Gordon is one of the few "honest" cops in Gotham and even he had to play dirty coming up the ranks to take out some of the really dirty cops in the ranks including the corrupt commissioner he ended up replacing.
Maybe Nolan can do a film based on the graphic novel Gotham Central. In the books, Jim Gordon and Batman make an occasional appearance in the stories. But, it is the dedicated cops who also do battle with villains like The Joker. It's not impossible to do. Perhaps it might give the franchise some focus.
It's sort of hard to translate that sort of athleticism onto live action and make it believable. I think they've demonstrated that a bit, if I'm assuming correctly that Bane was accurately depicted. They've clearly shown his intelligence, but I don't know if his "abilities" were fully implemented.
