(I can not find the Cheerios thread, damnitt, I looked in this section and the IR for two+ pages.) Anyway, here is an absolutely INCREDIBLE video of them filming kids watching the commercial, and their visceral reactions! [HDYT]VifdBFp5pnw[/HDYT] (perhaps Webbie can move/add this to the main cheerios thread if he can locate it.)
He sort of does, a young Trayvon... And the girl crying at the end ... *clutches heart* Without a doubt. Beautiful comments by them.
Those kids were told what to say, and probably coached. Yes very young children will look at racism, and see it as stupid. In fact when I was a very very very young child I thought that racism was in some distant land of old people. Then I grew up, and saw that line of thinking was wrong. The thing is humans are naturally racist, and have a desire to exploit others, and an inclination to mistrust/mistreat people who are different. We are never going to ever live in a world or society without racism, or an oppressed people of some kind. That is humanity, and how it functions. That said you will also get people who arent racist, and wish to change humanity for the better. People who want to change humanity for the better will always be in the minority, and never permanently change humanity. I think trying to change humanity as it has naturaly been from day 1 will always fail, and I do not see humanity changing. This is the conclusion of my dark grim rant on the reality of human nature.
That little girl in the green was hilarious she's damn near 40 already. That little boy in the blue is going to get ALL the chicks when grows up and that girl in the blue is going to be at rally and marches with her black bf in college lol. Great post
You're wrong on two counts: Those kids were not coached. Their responses were candid. And humans are not naturally racist. We may be prejudiced towards things that are different or that we don't understand. But we aren't naturally racist. Racism is taught/learned.
No sir that's capitalism not humanity. All humans don't operate that way and don't have to act that way. We have the knowledge and technology to create a better world and can if we choose to
Nooo. Obviously human beings aren't naturally racist. People are diverse. The ones with that "grudge" just have more effect on society than people who are merely "neutral" to it or "ambivalent" or confused by it, which is the majority. Some are so deep in their own little enclaves that they just don't care about it Are you talking about tribalism, identity politics? Or more specifically the 'afro, mongoloid, caucasiod, australoid equation - the so-called "scientific" racism?
Agree with this. It has been proven that humans are not born w concepts of 'race', that concept is taught. Thus racism is taught, its not a 'natural' idea that people are born with.
I don't think it was a seperate thread, but part of the WW/BM in advertisments thread. http://www.whitewomenblackmen.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16729&page=8
Such a great video. It's heartwarming to see the blank slate that human beings start out with. If only we could live in a world where people maintained these beliefs in equality throughout their lives. He looked remarkably similar :smt049 Yes and yes!! The little girl in green is very mature and balanced for her age. The girl in blue reminds me so much of myself at that age! I was going to save the world from hate and figure out a way to bring equality to all. I can so appreciate her spirit! We need more hearts like hers in this world.
Thanks AlmostThere. I thought there was another one that had quite a few more comments? Oh well, lol. ******************************* Love this...
