If he had stayed in the vehicle like he was instructed to by the POLICE, it never would have even gotten to that point.

Well - you know, you're right. Your solutions for unarmed combat, survival skills and archery sound reasonable and agreeable to most people. Unarmed combat sounds like something that would make the most sense. (Ie - if something non-lethal was used on a person instead of a gun). It appears as though Congress adamantly refuses to enforce gun control on a federal level. I'm not sure if federal legislation on gun control would get passed in the 2014 midterm elections in Florida or in the 2016 presidential elections because I know many Republicans in the House such as Cantor, Boehner and McConnell would refuse. What's even more scary is that a Republican could win the presidency by then and keep gun laws enforced with no regulation. Unfortunately, this looks like it's going to be a long term problem for our country. There must be a fix to solve something that sounds so simple to correct.

40 People Were Shot Over The Weekend In Chicago

For the sake of minimizing the argument, Even we are to use just your black myopic view of the world .......Let us accept your premise that the motives are economical.....Is that an excuse for shooting all of those people in all those cities ??....George Zimmerman did not do all of that shooting...he had his day in court....But where is your rage against the rest of the shooters??.....Does all those black fathers, brothers and uncles eliminated as head of house-hold help black familys economically??.....

All those people are casualties of the drug war. Treyvon Martin is the casualty of the corrupt Sanford judicial system. There is a difference and im sorry you can't see it.

True Army Ranger. The conservatives are using every excuse of justify Mr.Z's act of killing Mr.Martin. On the radio talk shows and Fox News Mr.Z is glorified as a hero and dissing Mr.Martin on the alleged bad things he did even though Mr.Martin was not even involved on those acts on the night of his death:He was just comming home from the store.

    ??
I showed you my post to show you I was first to suggest to you gangs and the drug trade as a reason.
In addition, I also included PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY, which oddly, you never include, fighting it as a reason at all.

Furthermore, can you please stop bringing up the country of Ireland every single time in discussions, to compare them to murders in the USA. They had 54 killings last year, and less the year before that.

So I will say again to you - BEING POOR in the USA does NOT mean you are a murderer or will murder! Sheesh, stop with the BS comparative already.

    What would you like explained?

These are totals for all of BOSTON
(which includes South Boston and the "Irish-Americans" you asked about)...

There were 52 murders in 2012

    63 murders in 2011

    72 murders in 2010

    50 murders in 2009

    63 murders in 2008

    66 murders in 2007, etc..

Numbers have been pretty consistent thru the decade.

This, I agree with. There are plenty of poor people in the US and all over the world that don't murder their neighbors, strangers, etc.

My Mom was just talking today about how she grew up poor and her family was on "relief" (that's what they called welfare back then) and how her family never resorted to violence.

There is just something else going on in these communities that are making the people there turn to gangs and violence as a way of life. It's more than just economics (though I know they play a part in some way).

It's time to find the root cause.

We're just scary, rapping, dancing, slam-dunking, hyper-athletic, gold bedecked boogiemen.

They do. The band is called Skrewdriver. Lol

For all those innocent bystanders, I agree, we should honor them as well. But the sad truth is that much of Chicago's gun crime problem is gang-related. One gang member killing another. Chicago is the motherland of gangs, probably even more so than L.A. It's depressing.

And now the flash mob robberies have begun in LA. Opportunists using the peaceful TM demonstration. So very sad.

Stop ignoring the much bigger problem. This goes far beyond personal accountability when these people grow up in gang infested areas and have to pick a side to survive especially in cities like Chicago where the black unemployment is over double the national average. Just like we see im Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Jamaica etc if the local economy has no way for you to earn money and eat its either join the gang or starve.

    The drug wars.
Here's my question if these people don't join gangs how do they realistically feed themselves and their family?

Here's a question that gets asked of you & other like minded individuals on this site all the time : Other than posting up these statistics & always asking why other people aren't outraged about black on black crime as you are, exactly what are YOU doing to specifically help address these concerns? If you and other liked mined individuals are so outraged & embarrassed about the state of the black community and YOU aren't doing anything but posting up stats & stories on the internet in the hopes that it motivates other people to take action when you yourself aren't motivated to get involved & take action, then you & every other like minded individual are wasting your time. Lead by example. If you're not leading then why are you & others surprised when others follow your example by not being proactive and taking action?

There are people on this planet rising above their economic situations every damn day.

Like they say: if there's a will, there's a way. You make sacrifices to move your family out of the "war" zones into an even slightly better neighborhood and you stay there until you can make another sacrifice to move your family up again.

And you don't have like 5 babies by the time you're 23.

These are choices that people are actively making and which keeps them living the way they are....and then there are the choices of others who do everything in their power to get away from the situation they were born into and make a different living.

It's more than possible to do if you put your mind to it. And people are doing it every day.

It's called taking personal responsibility and not relying on others to make a better life for you.

Book how much contact do you have with these people because what you're saying sounds asinine. These people in these neighborhoods have little to no way of socially mobilizing. What sacrifices can you makes when you are barely holding it together. I agree they shouldn't be having a shit ton of kids but this goes far beyond simple personal responsibility. Its hard as fuck for middle class well educated white people to make ends meet these days so imagine of your poor black and uneducated. You expect these people to get advances degrees in STEM majors? Im not saying its impossible but let's keep things in perspective. How does one feed themselves in southside Chicago with no education and a possible criminal record. The gangs are usually the only ones who will have then.
