    Really??!! Just stop.

Maybe GZ is none of those things, but one thing is for sure - he was foolish. He jumped to false conclusions and took matters into his own hands. Are you that simple-minded that you can't even see that??

I absolutely agree with that Ches. He illustrated poor judgement in many instances.

But I disagree with the notion that he was A.) racist B.)looking to kill someone that night.

But he was an overzealous dick bag who created a hostile situation based on a wrong assumption and cost someone their life.
Great thing about lawsuits is a criminal verdict means nothing ie OJ
I hope they leave that fucktard penniless.

As someone else pointed out, the term racist means something different to each person. At the very least, he was making a judgement about Trayvon based on his appearance. That's what I got from the transcript of the 911 call.

And I agree with TDK, he was overzealous. Not saying he was looking to kill or for any kind of violence. But he took matters into his own hands instead of listening to what the dispatcher told him.

Then I think the only way George Zimmerman will ever actually pay for the crime he commited against this precious child is when karma finally throws him on his ass.

And we WILL hear about it.

I try to be a compassionate person and remember the pain from all angles.

I've failed after reading the above.

This is why most patrol cops operate in PAIRS. A single cop who believes he's about to witness a crime about to be committed calls for backup, to protect himself AND the suspect.

If solo cops went around following suspicious characters and approaching them like Zimmerman did, we'd have thousands of innocent people killed every year by lone police officers.

This idiot thinks he sees a big, bad scary criminal in Trayvon, and for some reason thinks he's in control of the situation when he was anything but when he stepped foot out of his car.

This is why Zimmerman should at least have been convicted of manslaughter; Trayvon isn't dead because he broke Zimmerman's nose, he was murdered because Zimmerman thought a Black kid was a thief and didn't belong in that neighborhood.

It's really disturbing to me that a jury could ignore all the events that occurred that night and only focus on the minor fight and Zimmerman's claims of self-defense.

Zimmerman is the primary reason things spiraled out of control that night, and the state of Florida just told him he did nothing wrong.

    They'll be fine, don't worry.

If we don't get justice, that's okay. The country's image and American people will suffer instead. All of us will learn the hard way that firearms/gun control needs to be enforced. If 100's of people have to get killed or have serious injuries happen to them before they take action, then so be it.

Even if that person is you, your friends and loved ones? Noone is a martyr or a sacrificial lamb to get gun control enforced. I won't let anyone with a gun kill me or my friends, family and loved ones, if I have anything to say about it. I would die for them, not for the passage of gun control.

I read his parents settled with the HOA for approx. a million dollars, so at the least they were compensated to help with their loss.

I think also if they did sue him, he doesn't have much financially, as any settlement he most likely will win suing NBC, can not be touched. I also recall from the OJ trial, neither pensions, and in Florida, your home (which is why OJ moved there after his trial so Fred Goldman could not touch it).

They would also have to endure another trial, though he WOULD have to testify, which they may want... so who knows, perhaps forcing their son's killer to speak, may bring them some slight healing.

Possibly. However, as has been discussed regarding O'Mara's comment... it may be a tough one to win -

To what's in bold, people already have been martyrs. After the acts take place, there would be talks on the news for 1 or 2 weeks about gun control. You haven't forgot about the elementary school shooting, the Boston Marathon, have you? Even with something as tragic as that happening, people in our political system (the republicans especially) resisted towards the implementation of gun reform. Does this have to be the norm for us? Where most states have court systems like Florida's and have laws like concealed carry/stand your ground?

What would the best solution be for us minorities if the country can't even resolve its gun control? For us to go back to Africa or an African-like country because they don't have gun laws in effect like America does.

Here is Frida Ghitis` perspective about gun control in America - based on the Boston Marathon.

Good post, I found one about Zimmerman's myspace page. The feds *could* use this to their advantage.

It does prove that Zimmerman was racist against his own race.

Those who were the victims who had lost their lives or were seriously injured did not set out to be victims. They were just people who were doing their own things. Minding their own business. Neither was thinking of or aspiring to be victims. Violence is unpredictable. And it is everywhere. We just do not know whom, how or where it will happen. What all these victims do become are statistics. For along time 2nd Amendment lobbyists and politicians have been fighting long and hard to prevent gun control. I am all for it and I agree that something must be done. But, I advocate training and education rather than stockpiling an arsenal for the end of society/zombie apocalypse, the new civil/race war or global catastrophe. The only solution I see is to train in unarmed combat if a person is unable to purchase a ccl, learn survival skills(urban and wilderness), learn knife fighting and archery. If a person is licensed, use only the weapons they know and are comfortable with. You don't have to have an AR or an AK to defend yourself. Train. Most important of all is that a person must be aware at all times.
