Art and Life Collide on Eve of Film Release

Ryan Coogler's drama about the killing of a young African-American is hitting theaters the same week as closing arguments in the George Zimmerman trial...

I knew about it for quite a while. The director had an interview on npr. I tried hard to see it but it was hard to find.

I recall the Dunn-Jordan case. Dunn, half-drunk killed because the music was too loud. The victims had only loud music, not weapons. He must've hated the music. Then, after firing, he drives away. That is not heroic, it's cowardly. I also remember a case in Broward County that involved a black man who brandished his handgun in a grocery store over a dispute with someone at a checkout counter. The man had a high position in the county. I think he lost his job and his ccl over that incident. And then there was an incident in which a white man killed a black man in a store because the black man shoved him. A shove does not warrant a bullet. The man is doing life in prison. I am afraid these incidents will not stop in SYG states or anywhere a death by by shooting from an armed citizen occurs.

I remember those stories, Gorath. We even had threads on a few ^^^

Oh really? I love NPR's interviews. I would love to hear this one. Was it with Terry Gross (Fresh Air)?
It would help me in my search (bar).

Edir: this was all I could find (though it seems interesting)

I'll look for it but this was at least 3 months ago. I remember it because the director was either very nervous or had a speech impediment as he stuttered quite a bit.
