If the 2 crimes involved young black men, and GZ was privvy to the details of them, then he was indeed racially profiling. While it might be understandable if he did so on that basis, he should have at least had the balls to ADMIT his race/gender was his motivation to approach Trayvon. Why lie? Cause you fucked up doing a policeman's job that you had no business doing, and killed an innocent kid, that's why.
How can you racially profile when the action he thought could happen, ALREADY happened TWO times?! From previous history, he discriminated by what happened ALREADY, not based on color. Say the burglary and home invasion had been perpetrated by white people....is he profiling white people if he calls 911 non emergency? I'm sorry, but that argument is ridiculous.
That fat ape with his eyes too close together doesn't even have brains enough to lie well. And they're going to let him off anyway, right here in "post-race" 2013.
Yes! See, it's ok to admit it. NY Mayor Bloomberg just did. But if you do, you need to be a trained cop who knows what to look for. Me? A kid in bright white sneaks, light jeans, hood over head @ raining, carrying a plastic bag commonly used by stores....AND wearing a big ass photo badge of his daddy for all to see... yeah, that speaks burglar to me for sure. :smt115
Because you know what a real burglar looks like, right? They dress in black and white stripes and wear a black beanie?
Well, I KNOW they don't carry Skittles and a drink and wear bright pic badges and bright white sneaks... Know how I know? Cause Trayvon wore just that... and he was no burglar. Ooops I guess @ savyy George knowing how to pick out the burglars. :? We could all learn from him.
From the Orlando Sentinel: If George Zimmerman didn't break every rule in the book when it comes to Neighborhood Watch programs, he came close. Zimmerman called Sanford police on Feb. 26, a rainy Sunday evening, to report a suspicious person inside his neighborhood near Seminole Towne Center. We don't know everything that happened in the 13 minutes that passed between the time Zimmerman, 28, called police and a paramedic pronounced 17-year-old Trayvon Martin dead. But this much isn't in dispute: Zimmerman was armed. He was alone. And while waiting for police, he somehow got into a fight with the person he thought suspicious. All three of those actions are strongly discouraged by the National Sheriffs' Association, which oversees about 20,000 Neighborhood Watch programs. There are practical reasons for those rules. And this absolutely heart-wrenching one: A family of a teenager is now coping with a death that probably could have been avoided. "There is no reason in the world to carry a gun for Neighborhood Watch," said Chris Tutko, a retired police chief who now directs Neighborhood Watch for the sheriffs' association. "It gets people more into trouble than out of it." A manual published by the association for its "USAonWatch" program makes that very clear. "It should be emphasized to members that they do not possess police powers and they shall not carry weapons or pursue vehicles," the manual states. "Members should never confront suspicious persons who could be armed and dangerous." Zimmerman is reportedly the self-appointed leader for the group at his complex of town homes. A sign at the gated entrance warns it is surveilled by Neighborhood Watch, and says, "We report all suspicious persons and activities to the Sanford Police Department." That's a prudent step for any neighborhood. In fact, Neighborhood Watches are popular in Central Florida. In Orlando alone, there are 905 block captains listed with Orlando police. Some groups are highly organized and walk their neighborhoods in scheduled patrols. More often, though, neighbors just get acquainted with one another, exchange phone numbers and learn to report anything out of the ordinary that they notice as they move through life's predictable moments: taking out the garbage, walking the dog or getting the mail. Even the basis for Zimmerman's initial phone call is questionable. Here's why: The sheriffs' association manual lists the type of suspicious activity that should be reported to police. Among the examples: "Someone peering into car windows" and "broken doors or windows." Nowhere does it list walking while black, which is all Trayvon appeared to be doing as he made his way back to the house of his dad's fiancée after a candy run to 7-Eleven. Trayvon was armed only with a package of Skittles in his pocket. GZ was told by a police dispatcher not to approach TM, and he was breaking the rules of a neighborhood watch association by even being armed. 'Nuff said.
You realize that means nothing? You don't convict someone of second degree murder because he broke the rules of a handbook. He was legally allowed to carry a gun, and happened to be neighborhood watch...
Since we want to stick to facts here... He self-appointed himself as NHW. He did not register as a NHW captain. Had he, he would have read the handbook @ no gun request. If his desire to carry his gun conflicted with the handbook rule, then he should have deferred the NHW position to another. He's not on trial for disobeying a handbook rule. He's on trial for killing a teen who was defending himself from him.
According to the article I posted, NHW members are not permitted to carry weapons. It's as Bliss said - if he wishes to carry, then he should not be a NHW member, or at least respect the rules and not carry when he is acting in that capacity.
You have no idea if that happened or not. You came into the case with a preconceived notion of facts and events, and are looking for anything to adhere to those facts. Why not let the case go on and find out what really happened? At the end, if you still feel that way, then that's cool. But the hivemind around here is nauseating.
This case is so crazy and the fact Zim might walk is insane. Because Trayvon gave this asshole a BLOODY FUCKING NOSE in a fight Zim easily could have avoided by staying in his car, somehow Zimmerman is allowed to claim his 'life was in mortal danger' and he's justified in shooting this kid dead??? If Trayvon was bashing Zim's head like a coconut, you'd think there be more significant injuries than superficial cuts that DID'T REQUIRE STITCHES. I saw worse fights in HS. A detective testified that Zimmerman stated Trayvon was smothering his mouth and nose so he couldn't scream, and the detective questioned him how was it possible you were 'screaming' on the 911 calls in the background uninterrupted?? Because Zim comes across like a meek, unassuming guy, his bullshit lies are flying sky high. This was definitely murder, but in hindsight maybe the prosecution should have pursued the lesser charge of aggravated manslaughter with a lower threshold of proof. BTW if you're going to racially profile, you'd better be prepared to deal with the consequences if you're wrong. A REAL cop NEVER would have gotten in a fight with Trayvon and would've probably stopped him much earlier and asked him what's what, why he was where he was and where he was going? Even if Zim had given the simple statement he was Neighborhood Watch, this entire tragedy could have been avoided.
Pani, it's a NHW rule. Having a permit does not override other people's rules, no matter how much you might disagree with it. If you cannot abide by NHW rules, you can not be a NHW captain. And as such, you certainly can not invoke that role to justify/excuse your behavior that night.
No it doesn't. Ever. What it does is offer you a choice. You decide if you want to continue with the rules of whatever it may be for, or not...in which case, bye. For example, a major restaurant chain has recently become a gun-free zone. Agree or not, that is their rule. You decide what you do. If you choose to ignore their establishment rule and something goes down and you draw your gun and fire it, you must be accountable for any consequences of that action, be it good or bad.
'Ello Are you black? White? Purple? If you are being profiled based on the color of your skin by a person who assumes because you are that color..that's fucked up to begin with. It happens but that is no excuse to kill an innocent kid. 2 houses got robbed in that area by I guess black people. That doesn't automatically mean TM was there to invade and cause mayhem. The fact remains that GZ killed him because he was assuming that because Trayvon was black he was there to steal things and generally cause trouble. If GZ was so worried about it, he could have called the cops and had them handle it. He didnt and TM was killed in the process. He may have had the best of intentions...but vigilantism without cause looks on no one. Tray on was there visiting his family. He died as a result of GZ hung ho attitude. The cops dispatcher told him not to follow and let the responding officer deal with it. I can see playing devils advocate..but to say GZ had cause to follow Tm just because of previous break-ins is the argument that is ridiculous.
You should know what white racists say...being that you have a similar agenda and thought proccess. None of zimmerman's greasy, coward blood was found on the concrete ANYWHERE ...yet you neo-nazi's continue to claim he was bashed on it... smh.. How do YA'LL explain the lack of Zimmerman's oil on the concrete he was supposedly bashed bloody on?? Speed dial Rush Limbaugh for the answer.....
Nor was any of Zimmerman's blood found on Trayvon's fists. I don't even think the skin of Trayvon's knuckles was broken.
If the prosecution doesn't mention that or the lack of zimmerman's grease on the concrete.....then you know something is up.
