It might sound silly, but Black Panther is a racial icon. When his character was introduced in 1966 He was the ONLY Black Superhero. He was the Jackie Robinson of Superheros. So to cast one of the most iconic Black character in popular fiction with a fair skinned racially ambiguous actor, seems like a rebuke to the nature of the character.

I got nothing against Vin Diesel or any like skinned/biracial brothers. But Black Panther should be played by a darker skinned actor.

I understand that Vin felt he had a better chance to further his career by keeping his race on the back burner. But since he made that choice I don't think his first "black" role should be Black Panther.

Okay, since you've cleared that up, then it's perfectly reasonable. I would probably think that he's more likely to play the role of Thanos instead of the Black Panther character. Perhaps Michael Jai White or some other individual with some sort of stature.

Actually, if Keith David were to bulk up a bit and gain some muscle, then he'd be the perfect fit. He has the attitude and the voice.

Vin Diesel as Black Panther???? HELL NO!!!! If they were going to have him play any Marvel character it should have been Drax the Destroyer rather than cast Dave Batistia considering the current visual incarnation of Drax is based on Riddick.

Wesley Snipes' Amen Ra company wanted to do a Black Panther movie and John Singleton was going to direct. But, the plan fell through because they couldn't get the funding. Vin Diesel as Wakandan Prince T'Challa? Dwayne Johnson, Marlon Wayans, Morris Chestnut or Idris Elba would best fit the role. And then there is the issue of whether or not to set the story in Wakanda or set it in America, or, God forbid, reimagine The whole thing to appeal to wider audiences.

Sorry. Dwayne Johnson is also a no go on Black Panther. Same issue as Vin Diesel. Dark skin black male should be selected for the role. Ideally an African actor for the role. For the longest time British actor Chiwetel Ejofor has been thrown out as a possible Black Panther due to his Nigerian heritage, but he maybe a little too old for the role IMO. I'm quite sure there are young actors that fit the bill however. As for Wakanda? Why can't they do it set in Africa and be technology advanced the way it is in the comics? It's fantasy. All they have to do for "realism" is treat Wakanda as some mythical lost city like Atlantis or El Dorado that many people in the outside world have heard legends of for centuries but never been able to prove that it exists. Until now. Set it up the movie with Ulysses Klaw obsessed with finding the mythical kingdom of Wakanda and finally finding proof of it's existance & take it from there.

I was watching the opening of tanker girl.

    I have one question.

Why do female heroes bomb so often in the movie theathers?

Lately, I have been reading Batgirl and it is awesome despite flagrant man bashing in it. Yet, I know if a movie were to be made. It would bomb. Tanker girl bombed but for different reason.

Why do you think these female characters bomb so easily?

Michael Jai White. Dude should be the new Blade in my opinion too. He's a physical specimen and has the charisma

He already has Spawn down, but it wouldn't hurt to let him cross over to the Marvel universe.

Exactly. I watched a shit ton of his movies this weekend, Undisputed II Blood and Bone and Never Back Down 2 and dude is superhero material. He may not be cookie cutter pretty but for the roles I see him in he doesn't have to be.
How kick ass would dude be as Blade. He may be a little old for Black Panther now that I think of it but I don't see many other black actors who are as agile and imposing as he is.

don't count that was a short not a major film and if Van Wilder gets to play Green Lantern and Dead Pool why can't he play more characters.

He received his Ph.D from Oxford in Physics, so I would probably guess around mid-30s to early 40s.

There was suppose to be a new movie -- a reboot of sorts where it's closer to the game and grittier. But it turned out that's no longer the case.
