NEWARK, N.J. -- Authorities have arrested a man wanted in a New Jersey home invasion that left a mother beaten, an attack that was captured on a nanny cam.

The Essex County prosecutor's office said 42-year-old Shawn Custis was arrested Friday in Manhattan by the prosecutor's office and the FBI. Custis faces charges of attempted murder, robbery, burglary and child endangerment.

The attack last Friday in Millburn was captured on a hidden camera in the woman's home. A man can be seen bursting into the home, punching and kicking the woman and throwing her down stairs while her 3-year-old daughter cowered on a couch. Police withheld the names of the woman and child.

County chief of detectives Anthony Ambrose said Friday that Custis was being transported to an undisclosed location in New Jersey.

You asked earlier about where I was getting the husband/cop reference.

I first heard of the story Tuesday on a local TV news station. They stated in the story that the husband was a cop.

I know this is gonna sound corny, but after reading your reply, I spent the majority of yesterday going on that news channel site and Googling the story trying to find some mention of the husband.

I could not find any story with any mention of him. Every news story focused on the wife, the children and the assailant. I dont want to say that stories were re-edited or what but....Fuck it....They caught the mofo.

Lets see if he confesses to anything.

But keep in mind, if he is found to be mentally impaired and cannot stand trail, he will spend his time in a prison hospital getting pampered like a King on taxpayers dime.

 

Shawn Curtis is the shame of men.......My prediction is that he will recieve a severe beat down in the local jail before his trial and then numerous beat-downs again when he is sent to state prison......Reason-----The worst fear for many short and long term men doing time is that they cannot provide protection anymore for their women and young children left alone at home....They will relish the opportunity to be in close quarters with Shawn Curtis.....Even the jail deputies will willfully forget to keep Shawn Curtis in protective custidy.......In the structured prison system, it is an honor to brutalize a man like Shawn Curtis .......

 

I doubt anything major will happen to him in jail.

Remember, he beat on a white woman, white women are not popular in the black community. They are viewed as "stealing" the good black men.

He did not do any harm to the children.....which is odd.

The black inmates in jail will most likely hold him in high regard.

The big issue will be dealing with the white gangs like Aryan Nation and racist CO's. So he will need protection from the black CO's and black gangs in the joint.

Thats what is odd when you watch the vid...he did not go close to or beat on the little girl or the infant upstairs. He knew the little girl was there when he walked into the room.

Its like he knew if he touched the child in any way, his ass would get the death penalty.

Just by beating the mother who is a adult, he can get a plea and get a slap on the wrist depending on who is the judge and if he gets himself a good lawyer and not rely on a public defender.

I know you are trying to enlighten us into the thinking of this thug , but the justifying logic is flawed........So he speared the children while beating the living piss out of the mother, but only speared the children because he took a little time to quickly calculate the possibility of their related penalties, in his mind.....Well I beg to differ,..... I submit to you the guy was an opportunistic sociopath, focused only on money or redeemable items and the only reason he did not assault the children was that they were too young and petrified to be of any help to him in his search...........Further more, I still insist, somewhere along the line of his incarceration processing, his handlers will turn a blind-eye to a little "side -justice".......

 

I'm not sure that was totally the case, all lunatics have a preferable victim, his wasn't children, thank the lord for small mercies, but I doubt he would have left an older child alone say a 14-15 yr old for instance.

 

This I agree with. I mean what is the point of beating up someone that poses no threat to you. People are trying to over analyze this stuff. It is as simple as your typical robber storyline. No, there won't be side justice in prison. If anything he will be praised for becoming a top story.

 

Nobody's gonna care about this guy in prison, in either direction. Many guys are in prison for crimes against women, ie killing their wives or girlfriends.

As long as it isn't child molestation, none of these losers are gonna get on their high-horse.
