Apparently Kim has laughed off the suggestion that they named their baby North West. So it was probably just a joke.
I'd heard that the name might be Kaidence Donda West (not sure of the spelling except the 'K' bit).

 

You might be referring to when a still pregnant Kim laughed during a segment with Jay Leno as he suggested a series of names.

Her mom was on the View today actually, discussing the chosen name North.

It might seem a little unusual, but it is a celebration of that child's uniqueness. That is not to say that all children that are born and given common names are not unique. Men are sometimes given feminine names like Lynn or Vivian.
