:smt043:smt043 To see the pass she's getting from so many people is disheartening, to say the least. I don't know why I'm surprised by the general public...guess I just expect better out of people. I'll learn some day to be more realistic!
LOL I was serious though, lol. Yeah, it's because most don't know about the recent stuff. She ain't changed.
Giada De Laurentiis: Paula Deen Fans Are 'Not Happy' With Me Access HollywoodAccess Hollywood – 7 hours ago When The Food Network yanked Paula Deen's shows and replaced them with programs by Giada De Laurentiis, the chef felt the backlash. Giada stopped by Access Hollywood Live on Tuesday, where she dished on being in caught in the middle of Deen's N-word controversy. "Her shows got replaced by my shows, so we have a lot of people not happy with me right now, as if I had anything to do with it," Giada told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover. Deen supporters have taken to Twitter and Facebook over the issue, telling the chef she needs to defend her fellow celebrity chef, but Giada stressed that she is not getting involved when she doesn't know all the facts of the situation. "That's what everyone on social media wants me to do, to make comments, [to] stand up for her. The problem is, you need to do your homework first, you need to have all the facts before you say anything - especially in a situation like this," she explained. "Paula has been nothing but wonderful to me over the years. Adding, "I know her as a kind woman. I don't know what happened and this happened awhile back, so I don't know what happened so I'm not going to make a comment based on ignorance. That is not a good thing to do." Giada explained that she never witnessed Deen using the N-word. "I do know her family and we've worked together many times... I've never been in the presence of that," she said. "I think this was a shock to many of us on the network." -- Jesse Spero --------------------- They need to leave Giada alone, seriously. BTW, agree with this comment.... "Plus she's much easier on the eye"
I don't know if people are truly dumb or I was ignorant to how ambivalent they were about racism. I see shit bubbling out there and I don't like it.
The problem appears to be that your average joe is not yet hip to her current behavior. I think if they knew, they'd stop cold with focusing on her 'she only used it years ago'. That incident maybe could be forgiven eventually... But she did way more...all along. She is ignorantly clueless. Like her supporters appear to be. Once you know, you need to let it go (@ support).
they won't. I have friends on fb (who are ironically in IR relationships) who complain that as a white person you have to walk on egg shells and this is another example of that. They refuse to see the whole picture they just concentrate on the perceived persecution of whites in this country. I think a lot of people would be happy to go back to simpler times where blacks and other minorities knew their place and accepted any treatment they got
Kudos to Matt on Today’s show, he grilled this bitch “Are you here to honestly tell the truth and apologize or are you here because you’re financially bleeding?” Great fucken interview I don’t believe a word she says. She should have owned up to it and made sincere apology and ask for forgiveness and could have put this thing behind her, than dancing around.......Most of us human beings in the past have said or done something that we regretted and I think what is in our hearts today is what should count. She should have owned up to it & move on, she created the mess.
I saw snippets of this interview on the news. When she said she was heartbroken, he asked if it was for her self and she responded she was heart broken because she had to console so many people that were heart broken over her situation. Wtf? She kept blaming everything but herself. She is clearly heartbroken over herself. Fake crying and all. It just looked terrible. Her numerous explanations/'excuses' has been utterly ridiculous and just made things worse. Men.
Someone made a good point on the radio this morning. It is sickening that how you feel personally can affect your job. Its not like she doesn't serve or work with black people. She said something stupid twenty years ago and if that means we the public choose not buy her stuff then so be it but she shouldn't lose her job if she still has people who want to support her. Paula Deen isn't the granddragon of the KKK and shouldn't be treated as such. For a country that loves free speech so much we sure don't act like it.
Remind me to spread some rep points your way. As for the free speech aspect...it's always going to be exercised, but it doesn't mean you won't be subject to consequences.
That's the point. Words can either be damaging to someone, hence libel and slander laws, or dismissive. But if your intention is to cause a ruckus and act an ass, then you're prone to get your ass kicked. Free speech applies, but it never said that you're protected in a way that people cannot hurt you.
