The Red Wedding Massacre isn't so bad compared to whats coming. The books are inspired by real history. The war of the five kings is inspired by the English wars of the roses and the Red Wedding is inspired by the Scottish Black dinner.
Real talk though Dk, real talk . . . Robb shouldn't have married Talisa nor allowed her to get to his heart. He could have enjoyed her company and kept her on the low while just paying his position as engaged to Lady Frey. Even if she had his bastard that wouldn't have been out of bounds in Westeros along as he kept his oath to Lord Frey. I have an interesteing question though. Since this massacre was really about Tywin Lannister gaining an ultimate victory over Robb because he had failed repeatedly to defeat him on the battlefield, would the Re Wedding have occured if Robb hadn't broken his pledge to Lord Frey? I just wonder if the only way this tragedy could have been more gut-wrenching is if Lord Frey had just decided to fuck over the Starks regardless if Robb had honored his oath because in doing so he could align his traitorous rebel house with the Crown and deliver a crushing blow for the Hand of the King! If Lord Tywin had put a platinum package together for House Frey might they have betrayed the rebels anyway? Now that woould have been truly shocking because it would have been so much more ruthless. The Red Wedding was so very predictable to anyone who has been closely watching the show since late in season 1 when House Frey was introduced. Everytime Lady Stark talked about Lord Walder during season 2 it was with foreboding and trepidation about how bitter and vindictive he was and how dangerous it was to cross him so how were so many people on youtube and even here so surprised?
The same way Ned Stark being killed took everyone by surprised. Everyone is used to the "good guys" always finding a way to get the best of the "bad guys" in TV shows & movies that no one expects out comes close to how things happen in the real world to happen. Just like Ned Stark didn't see any of the shit that was coming neither did Robb Stark or the audience. You didn't see it coming or any of the unexpected shit that happens if you've read any of the novels either.
i really didn't think they could top that Sean Bean is a noticeable actor within his own right, let alone as someone with such high power in the show (never having read the books, i figured he was the 'star' of the show). That's like having a movie starring Tom Cruise having him killed off 30 minutes in. :smt031 i like how the show built up the unknown actors playing their characters, so that you kinda get used to seeing them. Then they kill them :smt089
Season finale is tomorrow. You better tune in. There may be one or more surprises. But don't hold me to that. They may wait until next season.
i know, right? and Rita on Dexter? that shit was like but this right here on GoT was silly they damn near killed errbody
Yeah and no music at the credits made it extra creepy. I know so many people who are done because of last episode.
In the book, she is neither pregnant, nor at the red wedding. If i remember correctly. I like the TV version of this better actually
i didnt see it until i seen the buzz surrounding the episode the different e-news sites were writing about how GoT fans were all over twitter losing their damn minds i was like....i gotta see this episode
Correct. In fact in the book it's an entirely different character from the one in the TV show. I think she was one of the Stark bannermen/nobles daughter in the book Jayne Westerling(?) or something.
No. Same reason. Also with the books the story is not told from a straight forward perspective like the TV show but chapters/events are told from various characters perspective. Which how in the books you won't be able to figure some things out ahead of time and they catch you by surprise.
This is pretty much my favorite show but I am seriously getting tired of the white savior who frees all the slaves mythos. What ever would we people of color do without these benevolent white folk? lol Next season is going to be crazy, just wish I didn't have to wait a damn year to see it.
It was an unnecessary scene, we already get she's the great liberator enough already. I am really interested in seeing this war beyond the wall. I might have to read the books. I almost felt sorry for Greyjoy when I remembered that piece of shit unfairly beheaded that old man.
