In all honesty, I could've gone on and on with that list, but I know my style isn't TDKs style, so it was really pointless. You on the other hand...have superb taste my friend :freehug:

Im sorry people but back in the day blacks and the fews white were dealing some real strong shit and diverse. like I stated it were fun and some serious that were actually socially thoughtful but now.....its sucks.

like Im saying em and yelawolf and now macklemore. lets face it.....blacks lyrics are unimaginative...no new material nothing.

em talking about a stalking fan

mack is talking about getting shit at a thrift shop

both jams are fly....now come on you have to give it up...they are busting some shit.

    blacks where you at ?

Most of the deep or lyrical ones nowadays are either underground or independent and don't get major record deals or mainstream airplay. Radio stations are not like they use to be when DJ's would actually play local artists or artists from other regions that they hear about & like to give the artists exposure. Now the recording industry pays the radio stations to play the artists they want to promote, basically the artists they think will make them the fast bucks with half ass talent & content.

I think Mexicans hold it down rap-wise the best, no matter what century they spit it they still keep it real.

I believe the biggest issue is sadly, on average a lot of black folks refuse to be unique or original for fear of being thrown out of the loop. That's why you could say "whites are better rappers" because white people aren't so afraid to pursue something different as opposed to doing whatever is hot at the moment. We have exceptions of course, but these black kids out here are gonna have to stop jacking each others style and start being innovators.

But in reality I don't care, white people can have rap, I'm pretty tired of how rap as of late has represented my ethnicity.

When you're represented by Eminem, I'd say you have a pretty strong case.

Yeah, you just got dudes like Eminem talking about killing his wife and dumping her body and shit like that. But of course that's just all to sell records unlike black rappers like Rick Ross who really be selling that dope & living that thug life. Oh wait.....didn't Rick Ross get outed as an ex-correctional officer or some shit.......

I remember Gerrardo Mejia(Rico Suave, En Mi Barrio). He was an actor. He was in the film Colors as the gang member who is making out with a girl before shooting Robert Duval and getting himself killed. The last I had seen of him was that he is an executive at a major record label(Warner Brothers, I think). Latinos have a rhythmic style. I remember a Puerto Rican comedian say,"God gave the black and the latino rhythm. He didn't give the white man rhythm. He gave him better jobs but he sure didn't give him rhythm." Eminem, The Beasty Boys(I almost forgot about them), Kid Rock even Teena Marie(she wasn't a rapper per se, but she had a flow about her)and Deborah Harry all of those guys helped bring rap to the white demographic.

Or when "Em" spends half an album crying about his mommy and ex girlfriends? I'll take Talib Kweli and Mos Def any day of the week over that garbage. I am still waiting on the next Blackstar album.

Never mind the fact that most of these white rappers talk just as much if not more shit about how bad/cool they are, how much paper they are stacking or how many women they can pull, just same as any of these black rappers. Why do you think there are so many now in the rap game?

    Warning: Derail and Rant

Maaaaan, rap has no substance anymore. The rap game became so profitable that cats are getting in, repeating the same formula to make a couple of quick bucks. Rap used to actually tell a story, it was more than that PMW shit. Where in the past, rap was used as an avenue to explain the what it means to be young and black in America.

Rap can be used to enlighten black youth:

or, it can be very dangerous and used as a tool to further mentally enslave our impressionable youth:

(See: Lyrics of 99% of popular rap artists today)

Rap is a perfect example of how slavery still affects blacks in babylon. First, we were robbed us of our music, religion, language, ancestry, our culture. Next, it beat us down physically and mentally... told us we didn't deserve to eat in the same restaurants, that our buttcheeks weren't good enough to share a toilet with theirs. Next, and fairly recently, black leaders (Malcolm, Martin, Huey, Stokely, Bobby, Angela) were silenced through imprisonment or death. Today, with no real culture to identify with and no strong leaders, our youth accept the messages portrayed through babylon media as being who they are. Nowadays, rap tells us that what we should strive to achieve is money, cars and to degrade your brother who is perceived as being lesser than you and your sister.

All this to say that modern rap is deleterious, it has evolved from an effective story telling mechanism to a tool for brainwashing. There is very little positive to gain from rap music. It's commonly the same story to a new beat.

I'm guessing you haven't listened to an Eminem album in like the last DECADE huh? Didn't hear anything like that in Relapse or Recovery.

I may be biased because I actually met Eminem a couple times and dude's hella cool, but the man deserves his props. His old stuff has much more substance than just, "I hate my mom" or " My ex was a bitch." That's really narrow minded. Guy has a vivid imagination. And there's obviously more blacks in the rap game domestically than anyone else so there's bound to be a lot of quality mc's, Nas being my personal favorite.

I personally don't care for "em". So, you will excuse me if I don't give him "props". I also don't care for common that much either, so it's not that they don't have talent, I just don't care for the way they utilize their medium. I do, however, enhoy Nas's work.
