There were two artists that I recall growing up that did painted comic book art, Bob Larkin and Joe Jusko, but they were viewed as mainstream fantasy/sci-fi artist because they also did a lot of covers for novels & magazines. Since Alex Ross made painted comic book art more mainstream there are a lot of actual comic artists who may not have gotten recognition for more traditional pencil & ink artwork getting recognized for their painted art. If this is the same Alex Gardner I'm thinking of, he got his start as a comic book inker.
Classic old school example of what made Cyclops the X-Men field leader for decades unlike now where he & Wolverine have now basically flipped roles :
^^^^^^ What most stands out to me about those classic stories, is the rarity of hero infighting. As contrast to modern books which seem to be 50% infighting. Those old stories also better defined who the heroes are, and what they stand for.
It's been years since I saw Black Lightning. I only saw Rocket Racer twice. The first time was in a Spider-Man comic in which they were fighting a villain named Skinhead. The second time was in the animated The Amazing Spider-Man.
With the much anticipated He-Man vs. Lion-O battle, there will be other battles in the process. In the event of any future Death Battles, here are some potential fights: 1. OJ Simpson vs. Casey Anthony 2. Jin (Samurai Champloo) vs. Kenshin Himura (Rurouni Kenshin) 3. Darwin (Marvel) vs. Doomsday (DC) 4. The Hulk (Marvel) vs. Doomsday (DC) 5. Candyman vs. Pinhead (Hellraiser series) 6. The Silver Surfer (Marvel) vs. Ion (DC comics) 7. Tupac vs. Biggie Small 8. Michael Jackson vs. Prince 9. Ryu (Street Fighter) vs. Iron Fist (Marvel) 10. Kratos (Tales of Symphonia) vs. Lenneth (Valkyrie Profile series) 11. Lara Croft (Tomb Raider) vs. Nathan Drake (Uncharted series) 12. Darkseid (DC) vs. Apocalypse (Marvel) These are just some ideas, but I'll condense it to just 10. But feel free to add in more.
NEW Batman: Arkham Origins Trailer A few facts about the new game: Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill will NOT reprise their roles as Batman and The Joker respectively. Instead, Troy Baker will take on the Clown Prince of Crime, and Roger Craig Smith (Ezio from Assassin's Creed) will play the role of Batman. The game takes place several years before the previous games. New style of combat and weapons. Bigger and freer open world.
I'm torn I love Batman but I hate prequels. Hmm............hell, who am I kidding I'm buying this game on day one.
Mark Hamill specially said that Arkham City will be the last game he'll lend his voice to the games. And also, since he and Conroy have a long friendship since the Batman: The Animated Series, he also left. It was expected. But hey, there have been other voices for the characters in other media and they've done a fairly decent job.
It's sorta sad to hear that these two guys do amazing voice acting, but yeah let's hope the new voice actors are just as good. Then again, nobody can replace awesome things--they can only try to live up to their own expectations. ------------------- On another note, I played Skyrim over here at my brother's house and I gotta say......it's not that great. That's just my personal experience though. I prefer Oblivion. Though I'll say one thing: FUS ROH DAH!! and also: MAUGH. CHOOEEEYYY CHOO! (Klingon for 'beam me down' or something along that)
The other two, well Roger Craig Smith indefinitely, has a long history of voice work and he's pretty good. After all, he did voice Ezio from Assassin's Creed II and Revelations, so that should tell you something. The only thing that will matter is whether they will still have the effect of being their characters and the gamers will overlook that fact. Look at Infamous's Cole MacGrath. He had two different voices. The first game was more scruffier and comic-book like and then the remainder of the series is voiced by a different person who sounds less comic-book-like and more...casual. People generally prefer the original voice, but the new voice is good though.
I haven't been up to date with his stuff but if you say he's pretty good, then I'll take your word for it. :smt045
It's a highly respectable series. I doubt the developers at Rocksteady Games will goof it up by hiring some poor ranked voice actors.
Why is every black character named "Black Something"? As if their special powers include jive-talking, pork consumption and use of special haircare products? If the uniform isn't black and their powers don't include the manipulation of light and shadow, I don't want to hear them referred to as 'Black' anything, as if they're inherently blackface versions of white characters.
Nope. I've found it in one of the communities on Google+ and it really amazed me, so I had to share it here.
It seems like there's a more reasonable explanation for the voice changes. Since this a prequel, there's a need for a younger sounding Batman and it would be a bit difficult for Kevin Conroy to voice him at a younger sounding stage. He's not a versatile voice actor in other words. And for Mark Hamill? He often says he will never do another Joker voice, but he tends to return, usually out of the nature of being close friends with Conroy. And where am I getting at? They are making a SEQUEL to Arkham City for next-gen consoles and both individuals will indefinitely reprise their roles as Batman and The Joker. So, not all hope has faded.
