Yeah.....looking more like they should have stuck with the Earth's Mightiest Heroes version that they cancelled for this IMO......
As long people keep watching inferior programming they'll keep putting this shit out. I won't be watching this
I found my old Star Trek symbol clip thingy that you can put on your shirt or whatever, so I'll be wearing that for the Star Trek Into Darkness movie tonight that my bf and I are going to see. We're anticipating long lineups so...we're getting our tickets during the day. I'm also slightly hoping to see people dress up as Star Trek characters hahaha! XD
http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/05/18/chronicle-star-on-possibly-playing-human-torch interesting as you can imagine, not everyone is thrilled at the possibility of a black human torch but i liked him in chronicle and the Wire
There are plenty of black superhero characters he could play and be perfect as. Elijah Bradley/Patriot on the Marvel side and Vic Stone/Cyborg on the DC side. He doesn't need to be the Human Torch. Changing supporting characters' or lesser known characters' race is one thing but changing a well known one is asking for trouble. Especially if they decide to do the same with the handful of black or other minority characters compared to white ones. A white Luke Cage,Black Panther, Storm, John (Green Lantern) Stewart, Static or Black Lightning??? :smt100
white black panther? :smt043 i do agree theyre stoking the fire a bit as johnny storm is an iconic character nick fury was black in film..but the ultimate edition is black, so they go hand in hand
The only white comic character that I can recall to have a black actor playing him that really didn't get much backlash of any kind was the Kingpin in Daredevil with Michael Clarke Duncan. And that was because there were no white actors with the same size and intimidation factor needed to play the character.
No. There were white comic fans pissed off that they went with the black Ultimate Nick Fury for the big screen rather than the Classic Nick Fury who had ties to World War II & Captain America. They basically put the Bucky Barnes character in the Captain America movie in the leadership position that Nick Fury actually had with the Howling Commandos, the group of POW soldiers turned strike force in the movie.
It's a special kind of silly, to get mad that a small handful of characters got race swapped to promote diversity. Without Sam Jackson Avengers would have been pretty monochrome affair. The thing that the upset people need to realize, is that these characters were created in a time period were diversity stopped at hair color. So in order to bring these character into a modern age, they might swap a race or two. It's not like they will ever mess with the big boys, Superman, Batman, or Wolverine. So what do those people have to be afraid of? As for a 'White' Black Panther, that would be a slap in the face. Because race swapping only exists in the first place to diversify these movies, taking diversity out is missing the whole point.
True, but it still continues to happen. There were already quite a few grumbles about Laurence Fishburne being cast as Perry White for Man of Steel as well as possible rumors that Jimmy Olsen may be a girl rather than a boy in this movie take. Also true about them not touching any of the Big Boy/Girls of comics, which is why I don't think Micheal B. Jordan will actually be cast as Johnny Storm. Although the Fantastic Four may not be as well known as Superman, Batman or Spider-Man to non comic book fans it's still viewed as a big deal within comic book fan circles.
John Rhys-Davies( Sallah in Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade, Shogun, Lord Of The Rings and others)played Kingpin in The Trial Of The Incredible Hulk. He wasn't very big or physically imposing, but he was very ruthless and clever.
I had read The Ultimate Avengers almost by accident. I remembered seeing Nick Fury as a black man and a General. I quipped, "Samuel L. Jackson is Nick Fury!" And I thought it was cool and a good move on the part of Millar and Hitch. And yes, they caught hell for it from comic fans.
Black Lightning? Don't you mean Black Vulcan from Hannah/Barbera's SuperFriends? There was a young black superhero who rides a rocket-powered skateboard. He was a friend and ally to Spider-Man. I am surprised that he wasn't considered yet. But, there is still time.
No, I mean Black Lightning. Black Vulcan was nothing but a simplified cartoon take of the Black Lightning character from the comics. As far as the Rocket Racer from Spider-Man, he's always been a D-grade character at best. The Prowler is the black Spider-Man character I think you're talking about since Peter Parker once entrusted him to impersonate Spider-Man for him during a period when he lost his spider abilities and had to keep everyone from suspecting that he was/is Spider-Man.
Cool cover art. Far better than the actual interior art in some of the current Wonder Woman issues that I've seen.
