feel good story of the week

    +10 if you're a dog lover

I like how the state of Iowa handled it too

woulda loved to have been there

long story short..guy was a dog handler who ended up separated when he returned from deployment

he loved the dog so much that he was willing to jump through as many hoops as he had to, so that he could adopt it

the dog was a bomb sniffer and the Marine contributes his very existence to the skill of his companion

    i know

could only imagine how thankful he was when the dog sniffed out different bombs that could have easily ended both of them

he's been through so much with the dog that he just couldnt go on without getting it back

i lost my dog a while back when i moved, but still wish i could just put my hand out and have her lick it one more time

I was raised with dogs, but I have cats because of my travel schedule. My kitties greet me at the door when I get home and follow me around the house, always in the same room as me. I want to have a dog again but I will have to wait until I don't travel. I miss the licks: (

Same here. I have kitties but I speak dog. I still think of my last pup and we had to put him down in 2005. I've called one of my kitty's by the dog's name already. :( Whenever I was sad or crying, Meshach would lay down next to me with his head in my lap. My cats (if they even notice), just stick their nose in my face, like "Whatcha doin?" and walk off.

    Dogs are truly special creatures.

Damn, where is a tissue when you need one?
    Thanks for sharing.

Really great story. I recall the show Mail Call with "Gunny" R. Lee Ermey. He had a question about dogs in the military. He explained that the dogs are chosen when they are puppies. The pick of the litter. They are then trained for their roles(bomb detection, security, etc). I have talked to canine cops and they enjoy having the company of a dog with them. I grew up around dogs and cats, puppies and kittens. I have been thinking of getting a pet. I have to do some research, though.
