I'm gonna sound real cliche here but... what you lack upstairs you make up for downstairs.

Jokes aside, the whole IQ statistics are always biased, intelligence is measured by how much you know, that is all.

 

As Chris Rock so shrewdly pointed out in one of his routines, there are a small percentage of flat out brilliant people, a small percentage of folks who are basically mentally handicapped, and everyone else ranges somewhere in the vast middle with different kinds of abilities and talents.

Usually when someone breaks out 'studies' on IQ and race/ethnicity in an attempt to 'explain' the differences in achievement among groups, and that's the ONLY thing they emphasize, they're trying to hide(unsuccessfully I might add) a racist agenda.

Marc Caputo's point is that since Hispanics are almost as dumb as Negroes(lawd help!), we can't be making all these low achieving wetbacks American citizens and drag down the future achievement of American society.:smt021

In my short life I've noticed one difference that separates the very successful from the also-rans; work ethic.

Guys like Sam Walton had an idea that wasn't new and just worked 24/7 to make Walmart the number 1 retailer in the country.

Ray Kroc, founder of McDonald's, was the same way.

Genius in business IMO is usually less about inventing a great idea, and more about being able to recognize a good/great idea, and exploit it.

When people try to come off like a genius IQ score is the biggest determining factor for one's personal success, it really tells me they don't have a clue.

Be the smartest person in the room is great, but sometimes all that's needed is to be....smart enough.:smt003

The only mistake made here was they happened to let slip out what they really think, and that was supposed to stay behind closed doors.

 

Good post. I'll add to that that one key indicator of real smarts is knowing that it's all relative. Thankfulness is a good clue too - and that's the exact opposite of trying to condemn other people from birth.
