He said for the most part. He did not say ALL. The dude was just being honest imo. Many people form the northeast do not know how Mexicans generally feel about black people, because their latin experience has been Puerto Rican and Dominican for the most part, and relations with them are much much better to say the least.
Absolutely. He said that PR and DR people on the west coast are looked down upon like filth, like they're 2nd class latinos. I was stunned.
Blacks and mexs used to kick it back in the day on the west coast. And it aint all peaches and cream between blacks and "latinos" here on the east coast. A lot of dominicans wish they were white for example and are notorius for that. Depends on the neighborhood here in the east. Remember Sanford and Son? Lamont and Julio? That kinda shit came out of the fact that blacks and mexs were cool back in the day. It wasn't always like things are now. Just like serbs and croats used to intermarry once and so no one could imagine a war between them, things change.
He said if you get caught slippin in the wrong neighborhood, it's MAN DOWN in LA. It ain't like that where I'm from. We live in the same neighborhoods. Not everybody is all buddy buddy, but some of us are. I can walk through Spanish Harlem and not worry about getting merked.
That has been my experience and it is more driven by relationships, not simply people being black, because most people in both neighborhoods have at least some black traits, regardless of what language they speak.
