    seriously..think about it

christianity and islam were some warring religions back in the day, spreading everywhere through force

look at their histories and ull see why theyre like the two most dominant religions

but if you look at asia..like china and japan..neither has really seen the same amount of spreading..so you still got buddhism, taoism, etc

    makes you wonder

did the bible or Koran simply say to leave the asian countries alone?

theyre free to believe in whatever they want

    :p

You definitely have a point. There are to many holes in Chirstianity for me to follow it blindly to a "T". I believe in a "higher power" and certain scripture because the inconsistency, etc.

Why does one need an institutionalized construct [by men] to follow when the most important aspect is your own personal growth. You don't need a religion for that. Religion's purpose is to maintain a means of control of the masses. Anything beyond is a subjective perception of it (i.e. comfort, security, something to long for...).

You can do all that without religion, but some have less willpower to even go outside those barriers they've created upon themselves out of fear.

i wouldnt have a problem with religion in general..if there werent so damn many

christianity is very popular in the west/euro influenced countries..so is islam to an extent..

but once you get to east asia and see that christianity/islam literally make up jack shit, it makes you wonder:roll:

these guys are more likely to practice buddhism, hinduism or shinto

does that mean that they're all wrong and going to hell

china alone is like 1 billion mothafuckas

it's weird/fun to put yourself into the mind of someone from china or japan, and attempt to understand their beliefs and how weird ours would seem to them

It's not a matter how many religions are out there, as much as religions trying to influence society that is heavily diverse via political means or otherwise. Theocracies of any kind simply wouldn't work. We have the means to respect the beliefs of others, but as long as they don't advertise it as some marketing ploy.

Japan's story is a bit perplexing. The vast majority of people are nonreligious and generally [culturally speaking] not too keen on organized religion. How? They actually adopt certain elements from Christianity, Buddhism, and Shintoism in some of their traditions (weddings, funerals, celebrations).

And China's government doesn't "acknowledge" religion at all and that's all the way back during the Maoist regime. But there are small communities that are picking up on certain beliefs, and there's a small group of people called the Uighur who are predominantly Islamic. An entire town or city methinks.

I will say though, I do feel sorry for the African religions, as they are slowly being decimated through war and bloody persecution.

thats why you cant be too hard on yourself

i figure shit if there is a god, he knows what kind of person you are and really can't hold you at fault for your thinking

your way of thinking is what makes you YOU

if we werent meant to think outside the box, we wouldnt have been created that way

I'm compelled to create a thread relating to the subject matter of determining the impossibilities of god. Testing the idea they such a being is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent.

you can get REAL deep with it

    for instance

if God knows all..like the past present and future, then why are we still supposed to go through 'judgement' at death

wouldnt you assume that god knows our paths from birth (cuz he knows all), therefore already knowing what we would do?

    come on now

Deep? Yes. Controversial and would piss off a certain community? That's a likelier outcome.

And actually, you would be correct...all those questions would challenge the omnipotence, omnibenevolence, and omniscience of this so-called God. Here's a funny, yet thought provoking question I kept hearing in my earlier years:

    1. Can God create a boulder so big that he couldn't lift it?

    2. Can God make a burrito so hot that he cannot eat it?

Those are the impossibilities that some would dismiss out of sheer confusion. :p
