As a parent, I cannot see logic in putting a device that was made to kill, in the hands of my child who cannot tie his/her own shoelace, is still being taught how to hold a pair of scissors properly (and the scissors are not sharp for fear of them hurting themselves) and are still developing the motor skills to hold a pencil and write. But hey, hand that child a gun, that makes perfect sense.

Your stats are outdated. They don't include kids within the demographic of the story since you're so keen on staying on topic and they include suicide and gang related deaths not just purely accidental/negligent death which this is about. The worst thing about gun stats and the people that use them is its usually trumped up data used for an agenda. Like I said more kids are dying in auto accidents.
