honestly tho..just google that study that harvard or whatever did, which attributed more pleasant responses based off race

obviously people in general responded 'better' to white faces than black faces

    unconscious racism or something

yahoo wants ratings and viewings..they're more likely to plaster unknown white people than anyone else

exceptions are like terrorism or sports obviously, where blacks and arabs are likely to be front page

the white standard of beauty is unrivaled...it's personified on this very forum

how anyone here can be like 'wtf' is beyond me

lots of people DO have real money

and what do they do with it

blow it all on drugs, cars and mansions, instead of trying to enlighten people and really make social changes

the individual comes before the group, u know that

thats the kind of society we live in

rather than say 'i made a difference in the lives of people around me' we're more likely to say 'i bought XYZ..this shit is fly than a mug'

Not with me my friend. Given the opportunity I would change things tremendously. Hunger in my area would be gone over night. Honest unbiased news would be available to the masses again. I dream about it all the time but have no way to vet there without winning a lottery lol

You know I am all for pointing out the double standards, but the title is pushing it guy. I know you want to get people to talk, but, I honestly have to say, this is pushing it. I could write an essay on the double standards in this forum, let alone this country. It pains me that whites are given coverage when our Black children are not. But, even though I can be very "in your face", I still think you could have worded this better. I know you are angry and anger can be good ( “Usually when people are sad, they don't do anything. They just cry over their condition. But when they get angry, they bring about a change.” ... Malcolm X). I just honestly don't feel this is the platform to discuss REAL ISSUES.

I will say that this sort of thing pains most of us (Black Men), because no matter who we marry, our children will always be black (assuming we want to have children). And knowing that the media will turn a blind eye is infuriating (“The media's the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that's power. Because they control the minds of the masses.” ... Malcolm X). I suppose we all need a place to vent our frustrations.

I remember after my first tour (first of many) in Iraq. We had a soldier who went on leave end up in jail. Did he do anything wrong? Nope. What was his crime? He fit the description (black) of someone who was robbing corner stores for 3 years straight. We had to prove that that soldier couldn't have done it because he was busy serving his country for the past 2.5 years. Did it get media coverage? Nope. Do I wish I had some platform to get the word out? Yes.

I am beginning to understand the countless Black Vloggers on YouTube who seem so justifiably angry. The media wont cover our outrage so we need to get the word out somehow. I just don't think this is the place to do it, nor is the title the best title to use considering the demographics of this group, and quite frankly it is rather distasteful. I don't agree with the way you approached it, but as a Black Man, I understand your outrage. If you want to talk about feel free to email me (It's in the interests section of my profile).

    some real philosophical shit

    but it's true

TDK like any other BM is aware of the issues..he's just a little (ok..maybe a lot) blunt in his approach

but u know people with platforms are speaking out...

i'm glad sites like youtube exist

the true age of enlightenment is upon us

all it takes is someone with a cellphone and boom, shit happens

like all the recordings of cops doing shit they shouldnt be doing, and getting fired/disciplined because of it

cop around here punched this girl in the face at a parade, and multiple people with cellphones recorded the whole thing

I think it has more to do with the protection of the people than actual enlightenment.

    perhaps

either way i think people are better off knowing whats out there happening to others

think it helps with the unification process

as we know, a unified voice is much harder to ignore than a single one

Not necessarily. Remember that boy who was shot in the head by a police officer? He was handcuffed on the ground and the officer shot him in the head. His excuse was that he accidentally grabbed his gun instead of his taser. Many minorities in this country saw it as an execution, while many others saw it as a simple mistake. I could list plenty of other instances where this occurs. It may make it easier to police the police, but most people already have their opinions formed the moment they know the color of the victim's/assailant's skin.

Now we are getting somewhere in the discussion. We could have saved a couple of pages and gotten directly to the topic had it been brought up in a better way.

This is a very important topic that is very disturbing.

Worst part is, that most wp aren't even aware of the severe disparity. That is something that needs to change.

I appreciate you reaching out to me and I might take you up on the offer, but I do want to make one thing clear I don't think what I said was as distasteful as some make it out to be. We are a culture that will only react to sensationalization, some type of gripping title. If I had just posted the story all that would be in here is a bunch of "I hope she's alright" without any mention of the issue I'm trying to cover.
