Souls: do we have them? Are they reused?"

Something that has crossed my mind here and there for several years is the idea that souls are "reused". I'm not sure that's the correct word for what I'm thinking.

Why is it that so many people feel restless in the place they were born and raised and others are content in staying where they are?

When I was 9, I went with my family (obviously) to New Mexico on a ski trip. We stayed for a week. I loved it there and want to go back.

In my teen years, I went to South Dakota (Rapid City area) 3 different times and loved it there.

I lived in Denver, CO for 6 months and loved it there.

Even driving home from Minneapolis last summer, as soon as I hit the Illinois border, I was stressed out and I could see the smog covering the area and I hated it.

I'm not content living where I am. I want to move to the West. In the worst way. Yet, other people I know (born and raised here) are so happy living where I am. I feel weird about how much I dislike it in this area. I mean, I was born here. I grew up here. Why do I hate it so much??

It makes me think that maybe some peoples' souls belong elsewhere and maybe their souls weren't "cleared out" properly before birth and a person is restless because the soul wants to be where it knows and where it's content.

    Does that make sense?

I can definitely identify with feeling much more comfortable elsewhere. I lived in the San Fran bay area while in grad school and NEVER felt comfortable there, just did not feel right AT ALL, moved out as soon as possible. Not too thrilled with living in Az. right now with summer rapidly approaching, but with aging family members counting on us on both sides of the family, here locally, we are not going anywhere anytime soon. Every time I visit New England where I grew up I feel right at home and comfortable, feel the same way about Colorado too, funny you should mention that Books, Denver and it's suburbs are fantastic.

I've never read it. I guess it's going on my To Read List.

It's weird, isn't it? How we can feel "home" in certain areas and not that way in others. And like you said, you feel "home" where you grew up.

    I feel home elsewhere.

I guess it can also extend to those who feel they were born the wrong gender.

Being content or dissatisfied with one's environment has little (or nothing at all) to do with souls, and more to do with the personal experiences carried out in that place you're born in versus the environments you've visited. It's more likely that you enjoy seeing new environments and exploring them while the monotony of living in a set place of birth could catch up to you. It was more of a high of the moment. New experiences, and you felt complacent in the new environments.

    I agree with this.

I believe we have souls, but I don't believe they are "re-used"

I hope our souls are not recycled.

    I don't think they are.

But I think your soul is more than able and willing to communicate unrest in yourself. It can tell you when you inherently aren't feeling something or someone, we just choose to ignore sometimes for whatever reason(s).

^^^So very true! All of it!

I have often wondered why some people seem born with certain fears (especially about death or particular acts of violence), certain likes/dislikes or unfounded restlessness. Or how some people, from the point of childhood, seem like old souls, mature and wise beyond their years. It definitely makes me wonder about recycled/reused/reincarnated souls.

My take, just gifts. I think people are born being able to spot liars, read sarcasm, some can read people generally very well, others able to influence others positively very easily. Some people choose to ignore their gifts and given talents as well.

......The soul is the part of man that sins and dies for its sins.......It should not be confused with the spirit.... which is the breath of life from God.......

The soul in hebrew is actually the whole person flesh blood and spirit/consciousness.
