IMO the topic should be discussed, but the way you came at it was offensive. The way you approached it put people on the defensive and you'll never have a successful conversation when it starts like that.

The sarcastic way you approached her case was offensive. Who gives a fuck if she's white? Right now, her family and friends are going through hell. The topic of missing ww getting more media attention than the cases of other races can be discussed without bringing in this woman. Cite examples all you want in that discussion, but you made it seem that all of us who were offering prayers and good thoughts for her safe return, were being fake. That was offensive.

As in other cases, you have a very valid topic of discussion, but you lack the skills to start an educated discussion/debate.

Look how GL starts threads in the news section. He posts the link, then remains neutral until others chime in. I think that tactic has been successful. You piss people off from the get go and no one wants to converse with you about the original topic.

He also does not want a discussion...he wants you and all of us to know that he resents WW getting coverage more than BW/BP. But if he stopped to ASK about it instead of MOCK it, he may LEARN there might possibly be other dynamics at work also than just the blanket "THE WHITE MEDIA IS RACIST! Y'all.'

But seriously, the only reason I engage at all is not to possibly change his mind (lost cause), but to try to counter his crap for those who may be looking to join and understand it's NOT a haven for White bashing, or IR bashing or a militant site.

It unquestionably benefits IR and the Forum in general when dealing with any racial/gender obstacles if disingenuous insult headers were left at the door. We don't need him to "be deliberately distasteful" to discuss here, as he admitted to doing. We aren't stupid adults.

The most productive dialogue always emanates from the respectful threads. They may start out as sleepers but they survive the long-haul instead of further fracturing this site's overall intent with ignorance. Of course he fails to grasp that.
