    That reminds me...

ointment, sputum, barf, pus, snot, gubernatorial. I'm sure there are more, but that's it for now.

    I agree with you ladies.
I almost adepted to some of those mistakes because of seeing them so much.
    Let me add this:

If you use he/she/it, it's DOES/DOESN'T and NOT "HE DON'T".
I hate reading something like "he don't know shit". It's not only slang, it's wrong English.

    Interesting thread....

I guess with my line of work I hear it all...with that being said and taping into my sensitive side I really don't like being cussed at from my man. I hate it when he rasies his voice as well. But being single I do not have to deal with that...

In general though I can't stand the word meat curtains....or meat drapes....it is really gross...

I do not think I have ever been call a cunt...nor a bitch....an really I am niether so I makes sense.

One word that really irks me is when someone calls me selfish.....when they do spit that shit from thier lips usually he or she has no concept of the word and the majority of people think selfish is always a bad thing....

I love the word Plethora! I love how it rolls off the tongue.

Apart from the 'p' word. I hate hearing people say things like "I seen it", "I done it", "he got bit", "That car is broke"...and many more like it. Did anyone actually go to school? And people using the word "literally" when they mean "figuratively".

"Oh my god, I literally died!". :smt005

What I hate about plethora is that most of the people I hear using it think it makes them sound smarter than they are. Unfortunately for them, the way they use it doesn't convince anyone. LOL

Another painful one is when someone uses the word "granite", as in 'taken for granite' instead of granted.

I hear you, my girl can talk shit if she wants but I dont tolerate anyone raising their voice, fuck that! That is how you talk to children if anyone, not adults.

NO! If you talk to children like that, they grow up with the impression that it is ok to talk to people like that.
Children that are raised being cursed out by their parents are more than likely cursing out their partners later.

    I hate the word PUNANI.

It reminds me of a popular fruit juice:

as an ESL teacher there are many words I love and hate. I really hate the term shallow and pedantic. people who say it are exactly is that. I hate saying pussy. I don't mind however if my man says it to me. I hate the misuse of commas. there is a huge difference between "Let's eat, grandpa!" and "Let's est grandpa."

I dont have kids and I would not curse them out if I did. Would not see a problem in my future wife raising her voice at them every now and then, if that is what she chooses to do. It is ok to talk to them like you own them every now and then to get their attention. They are simply not on the same level as adults and must learn to respect their parents and school teachers early in life. If they see that their parents have respect for each other, they are more likley to duplicate that to their partners later. Just by being a kid and growing up with many other kids, I do know that it is possible to teach a kid to: 1.)respect others 2.) demand a certain amount of respect from other kids 3.) Teach them that adults are to be respected much more than kids, just stay away from strangers. 4.) Know that mom and dad can talk to you anyway they want until you get your own house :smt110

It is kids that have no respect for their parents that are more likely to have trouble in life.

Have you seen Zach and Miri make a porn?

Meat curtains lol That's an awesome phrase. "lay down baby, take off your pants and open your meat curtains for me."

    What is this? lol

I use 'say what' myself on occasion. lol

'Say what' doesn't bother me because it makes sense in response to asking what someone says, whereas 'do what' used to ask the same thing makes no sense at all. It also makes the people who use it sound like hillbillies. I hear it way too often down here in Texas. lol

I like cumquat, too (we Americans spell it with a 'k' though). It's not just fun to say, I like to eat it, too. ;)
