Porn is legal because of safety concerns. The "camera" can be seen as a monitor, it's visual proof.

If you got an STD from a porn shoot, you can sue and quite easily win. If you got an STD from a prostitute... not so much.

It's not just STDs, what if someone planned on buying a prostitute, having sex with her, and killing her/ beating her up and stealing her money? The law doesn't protect that, yes you'll go to jail for homicide or assault, but what happens to the prostitute? Either she's dead or in jail.

Another thing is profit, The government can mass produce pornographic films and images. They can't do that with prostitution unless we're talking about sex machines. It's a lot like the tobacco and marijuana legality issues. Tobacco kills more year round but is easily manufactured compared to marijuana which claims virtually no lives year round but is much harder to stamp a government stamp on.

 

It's called brothels that are regulated, and keep good records/require signatures.
If someone gets a disease they can sue the brothel. You can sue a person, and it is a crime to knowingly spread STDS. Either way prostitution will occur why not make it safer, and taxable?
