I don't know, the mother doesn't seem that crazy. I think she is saying the FBI had been monitoring her son for three to five years, I'm not sure if she meant controlling.

Yes, but I still can't rationalize publishing these images. Even if I take his mothers feelings out of the equation, I still see no benefit in making the pic(s) available to all. I understand your point, I just disagree.

Not saying she is cray, in fact I'm saying the opposite, it sounds like she believes what she is saying.

There is no benefit to sugar free chewing gum either, but with the violence we are accustomed to seeing in the movies, whats the harm? It would have been nice if that guy would have thought about his own mother, then decided that bombing the Boston Maraton was not a good idea.

    gee..i dunno

    a few more murderous rampages

at least that's what the government thinks causes people to lose their shit and just kill mothafuckas for no reason

While you see no benefits from the comfort of your home in your city that didn't live through it, I see plenty benefits of proof of a body. It eases Bostonians' fears. It quells America's fears. It stops political chatter - Islamic extremists will tell all who will listen he is not dead. Your Govt is lying. Continue to live in fear. Many people would start to believe it. It's to show the world this is what will happen to you if you fuck with America. This has global ramifications that can and have led to wars. So while I understand your point, they won't ever withhold release to appease you, or his mommy.

So because violent movies exist, why give a fuck about real human mutilation/death? Movies are about make up and acting...that's a far cry from seeing a true bloodied corpse IMO. There's suffering behind death IRL, why do we have to sensationalize that by putting it out there for everyone to see?

    Never saw the bodies.
They flushed Bin Laden's body down the toilet like some dirty coke. Weird we can see these guys but the second most notorious guy in our lifetime is kept from the public.

They run images of bodies being shoved into landfills in Iraq on CNN. Since when are we above the gore of death?

How's that worked so far? Has it stopped terrorists from planning and enacting violence against our country? No.

But you also can't prove that it's stopped anything. If people are determined to be a martyr and harm this country, seeing a corpse surely won't detract them.

It is only a picture, no more real than tv if you are not there. The only difference is that we believe this guy died for real. You could be watching a real death on tv and not know the difference. The standard is that movies are fake, but what if a sick fuck put a real death in there, would you know the difference?

We have actually become more accustomed to the violence IRL, as well. Many are no longer living in cocoons, aware that radically-inspired violence is now a part of our culture. This was clearly evident when people who saw and heard the bombs explode remarkably ran TOWARDS the carnage, instead of away from it.

Its whats commonly called a type 2 error in economics, its like saying something like seat belts prevented more deaths but there's no way of knowing that since it could just as likely be airbags or people driving more safely because of insurance incentives, so I essentially see your point but considering this is the first terrorist act in over a decade all factors must be considered.
