I totally agree. The rest of the film may not scare me, but I'm always a bit freaked by rape scenes. :( I can't bring myself to watch "I spit on your grave" because I heard it had a very long, graphic, violent rape scene in it. Makes my stomach churn just thinking about it.
I remember my husband and I watching 'The Hills have eyes 2' in a hotel room and I had to cover my face and ask him to tell me when the rape scene ended. I just couldn't watch.

Male on male rape scenes are probably just as scary for guys. I still cant watch Deliverance or a certain scene in Pulp Fiction.

I remember I Spit On Your Grave very well. The rape scenes were brutal. But it was topped by the woman's vengeance against her attackers. The bathtub castration scene was memorable. I had not seen The Hills Have Eyes yet. I saw the sequel. That was shocking, too. There was a film called Ms. .45. It was about a mute woman who is brutally raped. She kills her rapist and takes a souvenir; the rapist's .45 caliber pistol. She goes out and becomes a vigilante. Good movie.

Deliverance. Burt Reynolds, John Voight, Ronny Cox and Ned Beatty. I remember the rape of Ned Beatty. It was a film about survival in strange environments and survival against man. The song Dueling Banjos by Steinberg and Mandell was memorable.

You're exactly right. I think rape scenes in general are incredibly difficult for most people to watch, but having been through that experience before...some of the scenes are way too graphic for me to watch. In 2005 it was noted that 1 in 6 women experienced an attempted or completed rape, so I think it's pretty damn common to pass on rape scenes.

I do the same thing. I used to make my husband mute the tv also because just hearing it was enough to get me sick. That shit is way too real sometimes.
