The bolded part above is why I advise clients to ALWAYS err on the side of caution when they are in a professional or even social setting. You just never know how/what other people are thinking. I remember an incident from my very first corporate job out of college, a co-worker who was on maternity leave came back in for a visit to show her boss (an older man) and co-workers her new baby, and as everyone gathered around the stroller, the boss gave her the most innocent, brief (seriously it was maybe 1 second), innocuous, side-hug in congratulations. A week later I learned that one of the co-workers filed a sexual harassment complaint against the boss simply because they witnessed the 1-second side hug. So this co-worker was claiming that the workplace was hostile simply by viewing the most innocent of actions of two other people even though they were not personally involved. I was very mindful of the fact that other women hugged her for much longer for 1 second, yet none of them had complaints filled against them.

I never found out who filed the complaint and what happened with the complaint, but company policy at the time stated that he will have the complaint on his permanent record. I always keep that life lesson in mind now that I own my own business. I am ALWAYS extremely careful of what I do and how I talk to my own people and whenever I am in a clients' corporate setting.

Which is why I respect their(women's)space and let them have their chance to expand themselves beyond the typical social roles and norms. Courtesy is a given. I have seen guys go a little too far and were removed from the site. Another guy, who was a road captain, was busted down to regular security officer for hanging around a post(it was a condo resort)off duty by the poolside bar, wearing a badge, carrying a radio and drinking when he was supposed to be off duty. The company came pretty close t losing the account because of his actions. And the property owner was a woman.

not sure what this thread is about

but the best way to compliment a woman (and get some) is to slap her on the ass

Probably some old dusty hating ass woman. Same thing happened years ago at a hotel I worked at, the GM was always playfully flirtatious with women in the office but nothing crossing the line. The women liked it, but this old bitter white woman he didn't even interact with took him to HR for creating a "sexual hostile work environment".

    Hmm

If she still works there when you are ready to leave the job for another job, I would ask for her number and let her know I'd like to get to know her better. You've already set the table and she's already told you that she likes you. I wouldn't stop, just adjust and come back when the timing is a better and you have nothing to lose. Good luck!

It is very sad for women to take offense when a man compimenting her as "nice". If a man said she is 'fine' boy,he would be boiled in oil.

Ha yeah. It's funny that some women believe when you are trying to be friendly/cordial the think you're hitting on them.

u can fall in with the rest of them, or you can try to build yourself up

EITHER WAY, dont be one of 'those' types....10-20 years later, full of regret and other bullshit because you didn't do more with your life when you had a chance

As a general rule I only compliment average/unattractive looking people when they look better than usual.
