The Mist was pretty scary. However, it was not the creatures in The Mist, but what happens when we are cooped up with other people who also want to survive and resort to barbarism.

They were deadly, indeed. All those creatures great and small. The film was better than anything SYFY put out. But, Ms. Carmody(played by Marcia Gay Harden. Thomas Jane was her husband and he was in the film, too)was the most frightening.

When my niece was 2, she loved watching Barney. I remember her carrying her Barney doll around the house along with a pillow she called Baboo. She is 17 now. A senior in high school and going to college. She has a Hello,Kitty fixation now.

A Nightmare On Elm Street was based on two incidents. A boy in Southeast Asia was drinking coffee every night. He was very afraid to go to sleep. His parents tried to taking their son to a therapist. The therapist said it was okay for the boy to sleep. A few days later, the boy died in his sleep. Whatever he experienced in his sleep state must've been too horrible to see or describe. Wes Craven recalled a time in his youth when a man who lived across the street was always looking into his room. The man wore a fedora. Freddy Krueger was born from these two things and the lesson about taking the law into your own hands.

I think Candyman was sickly original in that the man suffered and was humiliated. But being covered in honey and getting his hand cut off and to be stung to death by a swarm of bees is something even his tormentors never expected.
