THis was a media stunt, pure and simple. What little respect I had for him went below zero when I saw this dumb shit. WHy not wear a tee that says, ' I loves to rape me some white women', but with the same rationale - calling out racists who think that about him anyway?? Look at me, I don't have a rap career anymore. :vom: I tolerate it when some Black folk use that word, or when some rap artists drop N bombs, but it's still ignorant. I think that's part of the reason why I've gravitated towards more towards 70s artists as I've gotten older. Dudes like Curtis Mayfield and Roy Ayers still knew how to bring a jam hard without degrading themselves. (Although I sometimes think Mayfield's 'Pusherman' gave a generation of artists the greenlight to use the word nigger in their lyrics, even though he only said it once.lol)
But here's the thing, I've had a few white male & female friends like that who grew up around black people all their lives & are so comfortable around & interacting with black people to the point that black folks who know them very well didn't even see them as white and they basically earned a pass on saying "nigga". And they earned that pass because they proved that they had all around respect for all black people as well as the common sense & common decency to never, ever say that word around any black people outside of the close knit circle of black folks they were down with if they ever say it at all. I don't see shit like that anymore. What happened? :smt102
Was that promoting his album Nigger? Because the album was incredible especially the song with the same name
Like you who you like, but I'm not a fan of Nas. Just not my cup. There really isn't an intellectual spin on him and Kelis wearing NIGGER in big block and script letters on their clothing.
Oh shit. Here we go. Madame Instigator.:toimonster: Bet if Weezy had 'NIGGER' written across his shirt, we wouldn't be trying to rationalize the deeper sociological message he was trying to convey.
Was it in promotion of the album of the same name? Because it was an incredible album. Best rap album in a decade in my opinion
hahaha this is easily one of the best things i have ever seen....EVER but as for the shirt? I mean, god, really? I have no belief that anyone would wear that in the real world, I'm almost positive it would be just for that photo or whatever. I suppose the change of spelling makes a teenie-tiny difference to some, but god I hate that word with a passion. I simply cannot say it (nor have I ever been able to, no matter who I was dating, black/white/whatever). My man was making me say it the other day when we were watching Django, just playing around with me, and that word is in it every three seconds. I said it once in a quiet disturbed voice, just for him, but god I hate it!!
