(CNN) -- Born a man, Fallon Fox became a woman through surgery and then trained to fight in mixed martial arts. Now that she has won her first two MMA bouts -- both in the first round -- she has gone public as a transgender fighter, the first on record in a popular sport that some consider as the successor to boxing.
Not fair, IMO. Just because she doesn't have a penis anymore, doesn't mean she's lost the potential strength advantage from being born a male. I think there's another thread on this topic...seems like I've fought this battle before...
I'm not well enough versed on transitioning to know whether or not an advantage actually exists. But prima facie...it just doesn't pass the eye test for me. Reminds me of Kramer beating up on little kids in his martial arts class on Seinfeld.
Genitalia alone aren't the sole determinant of gender, just the external expression. Most (not all, because there are omega-type males with recessive traits) males have size, strength and speed advantages over most - but not all - women. So, all things remaining equal, it's like a eunuch beating up on a woman (not a frail one, but a woman nonetheless).
Hell Naw, wtf type of he-she gets off on beating up chicks in the ring? Throw his ass in the ring with some dudes and let's see him/her keep a title.
there are dozens of biological differences between a male and female, as once highlighted in a study conducted by West Point military academy. they did the study to formulate training guidelines for female cadets. Men and women at peak physical training (more than average) will always have a performance gap between them. this type of fighting is a sham IMO
I would say we would have to look at overall weight vs body fat to draw some sort of conclusion. Women can be healthy with higher body fat levels. If the born man is fighting in a 160 weight class and the average body fat is 10%, while she has only %3 then there is an obvious advantage to the born man. Some statistical analysis may be helpful.
WTF *As a side note, I'm not as impressed, because the form she chooses to use, allows her to limit motion of the rep. Have her drop that weight with a bit more of flat back and her elbows creat more of a 90 degree angle and she won't come up from that.
