yeah, they could have this and that. hell, you can do all kinds of pscho babble shit.....people have been doing this for years....stabbings shootings hangings clubbings whatever. human nature is violent.

the 1 problem is now they are going into schools. that is just waaaaaayyyyy fucked up.

if you followed the story....the dude ran when three guys and gaurds started chasing his ass . as soon as they grabbed him he fell to the ground and gave up.

lesson.....mass killers such as him, sandy hook and newton all gave up or committed suicide . they are cowards.

hell this fool pussied out as soon as they got a hold of em.

The OP tried to draw an equivalence between a nut with a gun versus a nut with a knife, like they were both equally deadly circumstances. It's not even close.

I'm not going to get sucked into this because I KNOW mostly everyone on this board doesn't believe the threat posed by a disturbed individual with a semi-auto rife with a 50 round clip is the same as some weirdo running around with a steak knife.

ANy fool can turn almost anything into a weapon. However firearms designed for the specific purpose to kill human beings are on a different level.

and you said most people rather deal with a pyscho with a knife than a gun. well some people rather defend their homes with a gun than a knife. So whats your point?? Should the laws be constructed around the pyschos or should they be based on the rights of law abiding citizens?

the point is....when he robs people late at night, he'd rather them carry a pocket knife than a .38 special

    real story

Right. I've never been gashed with a machete at twenty yards either.
Like I said, knowing your military background, I don't think you're being serious about knives being just as deadly as a firearm.

You know that pro 2nd Amendment activists are now against background checks for all firearms purchases, because apparently the incompetent federal government will put together a database of gun owners for future reference to confiscate their guns. Like in Mao's China, or Stalin's USSR.

As if the Feds would organize hundreds of thousands of law enforcement officers nationwide to go knock on the doors of 100 million Americans and take their guns.:smt104

There isn't much we can do to regulate the ownership of guns, but one thing we can do is check the background of who it is that wants to own one.
We have background checks of one kind or another for everything we do in this country.
The paranoia of pro gun advocates only makes it easier for nuts and criminals to illegally obtain guns.

A simple background check would have prevented the Va Tech shooter from buying his arsenal at Virginia gun shows.

Guns will never be banned in this country. But we can take reasonable steps to limit their lethal capability.

Its starting to make sense now. lol

I have always had to wait on a background check to buy a gun. Unless you are a criminal purchasing a gun from the streets, you expect background check. I think this statement is over exaggerated.

gun shows in some states dont do the background check

as long as you got the money, u can come out with that beretta 92FS

that i do have a problem with

PA..gun shows have to run checks

I think all law abiding people have a problem with that, why is that not the entire focus? Why has that not been addressed before we had some of these crimes? I much rather let business people and engineers have 30 round clips than to let a criminal have any gun. This just highlights how silly the public really is.

And yet it's the Republicans in the U.S. Congress who are blocking a vote on a bill to do exactly this, make background checks mandatory for all gun purchases.

Most gun shows in the South, Virginia is notorious for this, do not require background checks of any kind for gun purchases. It's strictly cash and carry.

It'This discusiion should never boil down to the distinction of how far I need to stand to use my weapon. Violence is is violence, the nuts are the nuts, and these people are the problem. The problem is not any weapon, most people have goten lost in this debate. We need to figure out why our young pepople are opting for such public egregious acts.

Not at the gunshows I have been to in Virginia. How do you know? Is there not a law that prohibits selling a gun to a felon?

    SPOT-ON

no one wants to address that tho..it's always the weapon, never the why or 'how can we help them'
