Know what's sad?? These 2 idiots in the pic with her don't even realize that they're being insulted at the same time.......lol. Smdh...
As long as it's not the word nigger, then they have no qualms with it. Besides, they probably utter that word every single day as a term of endearment. :smt012
this pic can be interpreted in so many ways one way you know, is like what MS wrote about being a term of endearment. White chicks were called nigger lovers so that they would be shunned for that particular choice in life. Maybe she's wearing it as a 'fuck you' to racists who would use that to 'insult' her. It's like she's proud of her choice. it's like NAS wearing the shirt NIGGER he's always been about sending messages and that was like 'yeah this is what people call me, but so what? i dont give a fuck im going to be big regardless of whether you hate me or love me' open your minds a bit i'm sure (i hope) that a positive message was meant to be sent through the photo they know what racist whites would call her, and they're like fuck it throw something else at us
Looking at the pic again, It's probably just some apparel store and they hired a model to wear their product.
I was also thinking along the same terms as Petty and MS; kids these days are a bit more laid back and accepting of each other and those things that we, as the older generations may not find as easy to accept. We will internalize things this new generation has a high tolerance for... I like to think it's people like us (at least us older folks) that laid the foundation for these kids to be at this comfortable place with each other. I know girls back in my day that did stuff like this to piss their parents off (mainly)...like this is who I choose to date so deal with it. I always felt the same way, but was never this outright about my feelings for dating black guys. I don't know if im making myself very clear...but hopefully y'all understand.
not quite as academic as what i had in mind, but possible nonetheless i really wish these 'artists' would have captions or something outlining their thinking
any clearer and id hit my nose as I attempted to walk through it (like a bird attempting to fly through a glass window) i get what you are saying tho..in philly at least, ive seen lots of non-black kids using 'nigga' as a friendly term towards each other. the music and media has molded this idea that it's cool to use the term. I try not to get upset over non-black kids using the term..because it feels like something that is reserved for us only...but when u look at the type of culture these kids are growing up in and the stuff they listen to, u cant get mad i've seen mixed groups of friends containing black, latinos and white kids all using nigga theyre not being racial with it as their fathers would have
.......The fact that a racist white man coined this cliché' to express his disdain for white women who favor black men, is exactly why no white woman should wear such a shirt glorifying the saying..............Only the Simple, ignorant-ass street thugs, such as the ones seen here, would not be able to see the trifling slap in the face it is to the interracial world...............too raw, too controversial, too disrespecting, the shirt will never gain mainstream acceptance as a means of honoring love for blackmen....
Repped Archman. This is just foolishness. If the woman can't walk in public for five blocks downtown in any major urban city without potentially getting her jaw re-arranged, that tee is not a good look. People act like there still isn't a large population of people in this country who say the word nigga/nigger with only hate and contempt for Black folk. The word doesn't need to be recycled. It needs to be retired. I don't know why of all groups of people, Blacks want to EMBRACE the ugly racial slurs that others have used against them. This bitch looks stupid. But not half as ignorant as those two mofos squeezed up on her.
