It would be and maybe you're right for now but if shit gets out of hand they will surely feel justified and since the poor are invisible to them they will do it with impunity especially to blacks. Anywhere you go in this world blacks are the ok group to target and persecute. People may feel bad and send their little donations but little is done to stop it.

Sorry, but I don't believe the government. They have been infringing on our rights since 9/11, and can we really trust their definition of "extraordinary circumstances"?

The fact that they haven't "ruled out the use of lethal force against U.S. citizens on American soil", is a damn scary statement.

It's only a matter of time....

Agree 100% with you, Bookie ^^^^^^^

Loki, do you notice the word 'commercial use'? Since when is anything the FBI, CIA or SS do ...commercial?

Technically Loki only put that in his post because Goodlove mentioned that regular people can buy drones. It's a scary thought no matter how you look at it.

    why is it 'scary'

because people can have eyes in the sky?

remember even if the drones themselves were 'commercial,' weaponizing them would still be illegal. no one has that kind of access to AGM-65s, weapon guidance systems, etc, etc

I saw Goodlove's comment, but his had nothing to do with commercial use. Which is why I referred to what Loki posted. The FAA response to Feinstein's comment pertains to (as you put it so well in your earlier post) the ability to use a a drone to strike/kill/surveil-arrest a US citizens in the US.

But GL's comment pertains to a private citizen buying and using one. They actually start at $249 and don't need the FAA permission if it's at a low level. So I can fly my drone over your backyard and film you and you'd never see me. All perfectly legal at this point.

Which is why we need concrete laws for ALL these pesky POS Drones that can be abused.

A healthy distrust of the government is a good thing in my opinion Books, that being said, there are still plenty of domestic terrorists (we don't need another Oklahoma City) and drone technology could be a big aid in prevention. For me, the public being able to review and understand the new regulations (per below) will be of utmost importance, that along with enforcement of the new regulations.

"At Congress’ direction, the FAA is drafting new regulations. How those rules will address privacy concerns, it's too soon to tell".

Yes Bliss, I noticed and will be closely watching the upcoming new FAA regulations regarding the the "commercial" distinction as well as the privacy concerns. I am adopting a wait and see attitude, the key issue, as it usually is, will be the interpretations and differences between state vs. federal laws as it relates to legal and illegal drone use, what constitutes privacy, what constitutes "extraordinary circumstances" for domestic surveillance using drones.

My bet is that the new drone regulations being proposed will be very similar to wire tapping laws as it relates to national security and law enforcement. Personal drone use by individuals will most likely be highly regulated, much like personal surveillance devices (gps, software tracking ect.) are now, with laws that vary widely state by state in terms of when and how they can be used.

Prevention how? We already have the Patriot Act to get around the Fourth Amendment.

We the People afford even the most despicable alleged murderers in this nation the right to a trial and even when we sentence them to death they are afforded the right of exhaustive appeals. And as the Innocence Project has proven, even with all that precursory the Govt still get it wrong.

So imagine omitting even all that?

I actually don't mind that they killed the recent U.S terrorist because there was unmitigated proof - he never denied targeting the US and often proclaimed responsibility for terror acts - I just don't want them possibly doing this to US citizens who have yet be given a chance to say yay or nay 'I'm guilty'.

I'm willing to bet that the new regulations will allow government drones for covert information gathering against domestic terrorist groups rather than allow them to use them as weapons. That is how they could be used to help prevent domestic acts of terror, per the quote below.

We are certainly in agreement, that law abiding citizen's civil liberties should not be infringed upon in any way with this new and ever changing drone technology potentially being made widely available here at home.

"As drones become smaller and quieter, they become easier to move and launch, and harder to detect in operation,"
