Like you said people are willing to trade the illusion of security over freedom any day and as long as the body count is shared mostly among the poor people won't give a shit.
My girl made a great point the other day, the reason why the poor and working class can't ban together like they did in the past is because every asshole swears their a potential millionaire and won't have to deal with the bs much longer.

 

There are enough dudes with money & power who see woman as nothing but trophies and are easily replaced that being of a certain caliber wouldn't matter. Only thing that would probably matter is a woman's breeding potential to continue the population. Hot white woman with no ability to breed for a man with power wanting to continue his legacy? Grist for a "purge".

 

We hold children up to some extent as higher value in our society since they are "the future". You see how crazy the abortion issue is. It would be similar to that. Enough people would become outraged over the fact kids were being killed in a purge to cause problems at the very least.

 

Be specific about the kids though because when they were little black and brown kids no one gave two shits no after Sandy Hook we supposedly care about kids. Distinctions are very important to acknowledge.
