this is truly a sign of the times tho, in all seriousness

college grads ARE competing with everyone else for jobs that they probably wouldn't take 10 years ago

this is happening with the police departments too

the good paying jobs that only required a HS diploma are a dying breed

it's sad tho because there will always be a significant pool of people without XYZ-level of education

right now the bachelors is becoming a standard...pretty soon it'll be something else because too many people will have 4-year degrees

 

btw if these dickbags wanna demand a bachelors..they need to step their game up and raise their fucking wages and include benefits

To be a cashier, you have to just learn to smile and use the cash register machine. Why would you need anyone with a bachelor's for that? Hell, even those in the HRT department are thinking, "What sort of meds are you on, boss? If you're going to demand a bachelors, then I'd expect the following:

• Higher pay, preferably $20/hr.
• Month long vacation pay
• Furlough days
• Sick pay
• A damned good health and dental plan
• Free Big Mac w/ large fries and large drink meal per day
• Pay off 50-80% of my student debt

All this can be done and then you'd see me bullshit my way through even the stinkiest, nastiest motherfuckers in this knee-deep shit fast food joint."

It's the good old market economy, always functioning for the greater good, efficiently allocating goods and services. There aren't even that many people relative to the overall population that possess college degrees, they're simply exploiting people's poverty and the almighty market's failure to provide enough jobs among the various segments of the population. They're demanding education that isn't even required to perform the job, simply because they can.

why dismantle a segment further by raising the requirements for a job which that group relied on

as weird as it sounds, people do 'make a living' working in fast food, retail, etc, etc...basically doing jobs that don't really call for degrees and advanced education

muscling them out by hiring degree-holding, over-qualified candidates is like a moral wrong

I guage how bad the local economy by how many young pretty white girls I see doing the job. Back in 2010 I saw pretty, I mean really good looking, blonde haired girls doing the maintenance at UCONN. That shit let me know what was really up but recently I've been seeing the usual recent Hispanic immigrants doing those jobs. Thats my litmus test and its pretty accurate thus far.
