Difference between black church and white church?...

Knock down the churches and replace them with something far more beneficial and can actually improve the lives of others emotionally and financially.

I have been to both. Right now, the black church incorporates a large rhythmn section to accompany the choir. There are more women than men in the choir. A lot of them try to do the hip-hop approach to reach the youngsters.The white church uses rock and pop stylings(some country, too). The white church(down here) is almost the same. However, some pastors are casual(wearing jeans, t-shirt, sneakers and cordless microphones). I had not set foot in a church in a long time. I remember going to see The Avengers. There was a church using one of the auditoriums for their services. The people there were very friendly(it was a white church) I even met the Pastor. He was casual and friendly. If I went back into a church now, it would probably be his or one like it.

This reps the Greek-Orthodox Church style I was raised on/baptized in/weddings/Easter, etc.

That's the problem with your thinking, my dear. Many churches, or I should say the people in them, have improved the lives of others, emotionally and financially. Just because you haven't witnessed that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Come to PA some weekend. I will introduce you to a bunch of them. (Leave the crocs, bathrobe and other devices at home )

 

I was just going to comment on the same thing.

There are many instances where people who have lost their homes to fire, etc can find shelter in a church. They do drives for local food pantries, DCFS with their Christmas trees.

Just because you're an atheist (and that's okay) doesn't mean you shouldn't look further into what churches do for individuals and their communities as a whole. They do serve a very real purpose.

 

He's an intellectual in the bible belt he's incredibly disillusioned and I get why. Its never ending cramming of religion down your throat to the point you can't even use the bathroom without seeing a picture of angels on the mirror. We're lucky we live in very liberal areas so we don't have to deal with it unless we want to. He needs to move out of there asap.

Huh? I was raised in a pentecostal church in Sweden. It was called Philadelphia, there were many if these but the have since almost died out.

There is supposed to be speaking in tongues I don't remember that part tho.

 

I think he's talking about the southern ones. Funny enough every catholic church I've been to weather here or in England are all exactly the same.

Do not need either. Both are corrupted. All inspiration comes from within the individual who discovers the almighty themselves. This will be the next revoultion in spiritual training.

 

Only thing good about the black church is the music. White church....can't fuck with it at all.

 

one of the biggest differences between the black church and white church is cultural lithurgy
imo white churches tend to be more rooted in information and scripture. whereas black churches have better praise and worship music

Yeah, the Bible Belt is terrible. I got a 2 1/2 week induction into it when I went to Israel several years ago. I was more in "Bible Belt" culture shock than Israel culture shock. EEK!

Someone on my trip asked me if I was Christian because I worked in the Anthropology Department of the Field Museum at the time. I said, no I'm Catholic. :smt043

I just felt that even though we were all Christians, we weren't really.

 

I don't know. Black churches have black people in them, white churches have white people in them. Is that it? The colour of the people inside the churches?

 

I had to leave the church because of the feet washing....some one always had the feet that had toe nails that can grab fish.

one time when I was a teen, I was washing feet and dude caught the holy ghost and I swear he must have been that dude from X-men.... wolverine because I got slashes across my chest. that shit is still there as of today.

hell then it was always that one drunk guy that would get saved every other month. he nasty ass came in for a foot washing and I had to do that shit. hell his feet was so stank we had to put baking soda on his feet
