Joe Weider looked better than Jack LaLanne. Not that Jack was no slouch himself. He practiced what he preached and stayed with it. He loved every minute. He had seen the rise of many who would go on to win contests like Mr. America, Mr. Universe, Mr. Olympia and many others. Guys like Arnold Schwartzenegger, Lou Ferigno, Lee Haney and many more. May he Rest In Peace.

My first weight set I got to bulk up for high school football was by weider. My weider power tower from like 5 years ago is still getting that work weekly

And like bliss, I do have muscle and fitness mags, except she got hers to look at studs

I found some fucking legit workouts in them that were giving me some real gains

Bliss that is an honorable send-off and tribute to one of the true fathers of the sport.......I remember being presented with my first collegiate trophy by Georgia Fudge a former competitor and young judge he brought into the business....Rest in peace Joe Weider......

    lmao

yah right that's like me buying playboy to 'read' the articles

    :p

    i do like M and F tho...

lots of times when you see 'ultimate workouts,' they're full of shit or written by someone who doesn't know what theyre doing. but i bought M and F one time and they had 3 different complete routines depending on what type of growth you wanted. I was getting good results and can't say that for every workout i've came across.

    He even outlived Jack LaLaine.

I would buy any copy that featured Mike Christian, he really knew his stuff. I remember the Barbarian Brothers worked-out with him once and he had them both throwing up! :vom:

What I loved about the featured writers was that they were extremely intelligent, some even scholarly, which reinforced the point that Weider drove -- bodybuilders wield from all faucets of life. They were/are far from the dumb-jock stereotype depicted in movies and such.

u hit the nail on the head with that one

reminds me of a jiu jitsu book i have called Mastering the Guard

it's written by a guy who holds a PhD..in what, i dunno..but like you said...it's all about athletes defying mainstream expectations (bodybuilders especially since theyre seen as meatheads with no brains)

it's like being good at one area of life, makes you good at the other

or are joe rogan says...guys that are truly gifted in one area, can usually transfer that same potential into another
